Evening all. I've been doing a bit of lurking and playing catch up today. Fritting between various people's awesome car project threads and just generally getting a feeling for this place I've been a member for years but never really properly engaged in. I've noticed that a few people seem to be into RWYB and drag racing, which is something I used to be massively into! Image Me at Santa Pod, what seems like a life time ago! I was wondering how often people get together to head to strips, either to watch or race? I used to go to Santa Pod, never been to York. It's something I'd like to start doing again, even if just to watch.

Ah... The days when our cars didn't reach 100mph by the finish line didn't need helmets..

was it rwyb you used to do or were you part of the vwdrc? (noticed their's a Seat in lane 1)

That car only reached the finished line a handful of times before it gave up. After the weight loss program she was in the low 16s with a standard 1.8 8v lump. There were plans to do some heart surgery on the old girl, but found a few to many metal worm issues.
It's a race to see who finishes their car first Smithy, Pedro or Me.
It'll easily be you Colin, you could be doing a bareshell rebuild (well, you nearly are) and you'd still be running before them. :D

You're right, the banter is a lot of fun between this lot. Makes me wish I had a track project again, but I need to be sensible for a while longer yet. I don't really see the D5 hauling it's ass down a strip any time soon haha! Well if there's another event/RWYB day that people want to attend in the future, hopefully I can meet a few of you there. Always happy to be on hand as pit crew :)
