evening all, no point being a lurker after all is their? I got my new Volvo well to me last weekend for the pricey sum of £180 Volvo V70 2.5 auto 1998 in Grey it was in need of a bit of mechanical work well i have had discovery's so thats no bother is it? So i ignored the bits it needed doing for a few days to the 3 hours before we left for a long weekend:- leather seat spilt- black gaffa tape, boot clips snapped ( took cover out and left it at home) , small oil leak- checked and topped up oil, passengers door wouldn't unlock (daughter hit it and it worked) and drove it 600 miles to Stockton on Tees and back for a wedding being 5 up with family and luggage no problem. result cheaper then a higher car and love it so its staying nice smooth fast comfy drive. car then dies on motorway -oh well i have recovery:) get car back home fuel filter looks old so replaced that, snap banjo on fuel line- new one fitted now starts but dies after a few mins willnt hold tick over. stuff it its the weekend and i have it off so decide to clean it properly hoover, wipe interior, fit dog guard ,wash, debadge , polish, wax, detail trims, alloys, sand and polish exhaust tip. having had a bmw touring and belonging to a forum and doing some events thier was a bit of snobbery. its nice to be in normal car that goes well. how do i make it faster? off to use the search function stage zero seems a good place to start. hows that for a intro?

Apart from the apparent intermittent comma key fault, not a bad intro at all ;) Welcome aboard, let's have some piccies when you can, most of us communicate via pictures and words of one syllable or less... :D

Welcome to the forum, is it turbo, or naturally aspirated? If it's the latter then the best way to make it quicker is to push it off a cliff. ;)

Welcome. Most common place the oil leaks from on that car is the Rear main seal (expensive to fix) and the Turbo return, £75 fitted at the dealer. before you do a 'stage 0' I'd start by checking your PCV breather system isn't blocked. If it is, then 'stage 0' will be fruitless. That'll cost you £155 in parts and will make a massive difference to the running of the car. What's the mileage?

just hit the 150,000 mark, will have a look at the leak locations, pvc was going to be my first port of call along with cleaning the throttle body. performance isnt bad will sort the looks and do the faster bits as and when the boss says i can.

Welcome to the madhouse mate. You bagged a bargain there, mechanical issues or not! As above, I'd recommend a PCV overhaul and stage 0. Do the cambelt if you have no record of it being done recently. I'm doing the same to my V70R AWD at the moment - This is how one of the drain holes looks after just 100k miles - If yours hasn't been done, it'll be even worse. Cleaning the throttle body and idle bypass valve should cure your idling issue with any luck. Keep us updated with your progress. thanks for the welcome all, fuel/running issues now sorted turned out to be the fuel relay it had failed all sorted now as mentioned pvc and stage zero over next set of rest days or when my overtime kicks in.
