Hello all.
My names Steve and I'm a car-changing-a-holic.
Had over 17 cars in the last 12 years, justabout all estates , mainly Subarus, but had 1 V40 2.0 , 1 V40 2.0T , and 1 V40 T4.
Current fleet is a Legacy Estate and just bought my "learning how to work on a car" car .. a '99 Volvo 2.5T V70 . As you can tell I love estate cars.
I had been on the lookout for a turbo'd V70 for a while , and , having been a member of the other Volvo forum , was always on the lookout. I took the plunge on 1 that looked well looked after and excellent bodywork condition .. trouble was it was down in Thetford, 400 odd miles away . So organised a Saturday to get 4 trains to get down there. A friend and I viewed the car, it drove fine etc , bought the car, then after filling up with what now is thought to have been bad fuel, the EML came on , running became worse , eventually sounded like a Subaru lol broke down , got stuck at M6 Stafford Services and flatbedded back to Glasgow! This wasn't a good way to convince the wife a Volvo is needed in her life!
Anyway.. my only real experience of working on cars was changing over backboxes of the numerous Imprezas I had over the years, so I dived in at the deep end with this V70 and checked the codes, sorted a connection or 2 , replaced the MAF and she's running great now. So then set about other important jobs like changing the gearbox fluid as she was a bit lurchy and noisy shifting gears. Made a heck of a difference , and then my next big job was changing the rear struts as the car was seriously bouncy like an old bed. Of course discovered my car had Nivomats AFTER buying standard OE shocks didn't I ?! so then had to buy new stronger springs and changed them as well . A few more small gremlins sorted and I'm very happy with her :) Just a bit more power would be good :D Hope I haven't rambled on too much.
Here she is ..
Hope I can help contribute to the forums here.
Cheers,
Steve

Currently on the hunt for some slightly better looking 16" or 17" wheels but with good tyres ( *cough* Jamest5r *cough* ) to finish her looks off

Welcome aboard :)
I remember seeing this car on voc, very nice indeed. A remap should cheer up the ride a little ;)

Welcome to the forum sir .i had a 2.5t v70 manual but mine was pre me7 so easy to play with .a remap will help the power wonders mate .thats what I did with mine and that became a quick car for everyday driving .

Thanks everyone . I'm still learning re pre ME7 or post ME7 .. No idea what it means lol but know mine is a 99 ME7 when it comes to spares etc.
Looking at remaps but I'm unsure. I find the auto a bit bland ie its gradual and u get speed but theres not a lot of feeling of it ie no real shove . Hoping a remap would change that, plus wish it would come in earlier but was told by BSR that would not change. Anyway its between BSR and Shark . Read too much about HLM, undecided about Kalmar Union as the map would have to be sent to me and installed myself, and I've used Shark before on my previous Audi and was very happy with the remap..they are the favourite choice justnow but happy with guidance on here.
