Hi, I'm looking for information on the history of my newly acquired Gul 854 T-5R N482JNO and possibly known as N405LEG ( I believe this was retained/swapped somewhere in the vehicles history) Obviously I know of the previous 2 owners to me FoammyMark and Merc85 ( if you guy's have anything add please feel free to add to the thread or pm me), but beyond that I know no more. I would like to fully trace the history of the car, find out who had it first, whether it was company owned or private for the first registration and then document its history to the present time. So if any one has any info, good or bad, please post it up or pm me. Thanks to Ettienne for the info so far (very interesting, but will need to be checked up on before I post it up) and giving me the nudge to research the cars history, which wasn't something I had thought of doing, but know believe would be interesting for all to see. Thanks Mark, That's what I had heard, but need to find out if this is true and when the reg changed and why, hopefully more members on here will have bits of info that can be pieced together to get the full history. I will pm 'The Man That Can' later to see what he knows of her history

That car drives straight and true and is easily the Best handling 850 ive had, Certainly no evidence of being a cut n shut wen i had it. Just a shame some idiot did a piss poor job matching the rear 1/4 panel colour.

"the-man-that-can" is the chap i bought it off again with no real history to go on, the "Service History"as i understood got damaged when the Matrix went so got destroyed as it was passenger front in the footwell.
Its clearly had a Top end overhaul at some point as the Head apears very clean and has also had a new Water pipe "the large metal one" at the back of the block which the bottom Rad hose goes onto.

unconfirmed, but it is looking like it was originally owned by on of TWR's top bod's, whether twr owned it and it was registered to the employee we have yet to establish and whether it is true at all.....but it would be a nice bit of history for the car :)

I'd have never parted with her, if I had been able to use her more, and she was the best drive out of my cars I thought.

Apparently you can find out the mileage by the obd1 port on the ecu box, i didnt relise this until id sold her, Has anyone read the actual mileage from the ecu?

I didn't know that, but would love to know what she has truly done. The clock with 239k on went with the car to Adrian, and the current clock is on 160k or so.

Think they were waiting for the knock,I couldn't say much when they admitted it straight away, He doesn't know I have to witnesses, just the hassle now of getting quotes and sorting it, on the up side,whilst the paint is mixed.......that rear quarter......lol

I've chatted to Andy (the-man-that-can) about this car on a few occasions. He's quite proud of it. Said it never felt like it had so many miles under it's belt.
He's got another gul now and he's slowly working through the parts list.

Finally had a chat to my man who worked for TWR. He can only remember 1 gul and believes it belonged to one of the management chaps, Craig Wilson.
Not sure if that's any use to you but it's all he can remember.

News Flash !!!! Our Gully had yet another former identity,she was formerly SDR759 and changed to her current mark on 03/12/2007, but does now pose the question why did it not return to it's original reg N450 LEG, thats the next one to get to the bottom of. Hopefully all the dvla data held should drop through the letter box in the next week or so, then I may be able to fill a few more blanks and get the whole picture before contacting the ex TWR man for his info.

Did you know about that additional plate change before?
That reg would have been quite nice, maybe it is on another car now?
Edit: Infact I've just checked that Reg of N450 LEG and it's on a diesel 945 apparently.

All I did was look for that reg on an insurance site and that's what it came up with.
Now thinking it's a Volvo with that reg if you search on Gov's site sure enough it shows a 2.4D Volvo, presumably that 940 estate mentioned earlier.

No they said it was unassigned and available from the dvla, but when I mentioned it was the original reg for my car they then said oh I don't know how thats happened as it should not be available if it has been assigned before, that's what has really got me intrigued and now your info even more so........!!!

Oh yes, that might be what they said but it sounds like they have a motive, try and get some money off you. These number plate dealers are a dodgy lot :)
Have you definitely written the correct reg out that I've searched? N450 LEG?
As I say that shows up as a taxed 940. So something has to be wrong somewhere?!

Just a thought perhaps an owner of the 940 registered N450 LEG use to own the gul and kept the plate when he sold it on, as it is quite an unusual number.

Just had a read back through some of the last posts and I need to apologise to those who have searched the reg number as I hadn't noticed that it had become transposed and should have read N405LEG. I have had a very helpful chat with the dvla today and it may be possible to get her back on her original number, but I will have to put up a case for its reinstatement and support the application with evidence of why it should be returned, this evidence should all be coming from the dvla in the next week or 2, when I should receive the past registration documents. I have the mot history back to 2006 to help locate where the car has been located in the country in the last 10 years, so just need to fill in blanks for the first 10 years next. Well here's a collation of what I have so far, please feel free to paste in anything I've missed or got wrong....

Tyres weren't good either and at the next mot there is a list of corroded pipes on the advisory (a/c pas clutch) oil leak and osf outer gaiter, no surprise really at the age and mileage, but great to find when digging back through the old paperwork, just wish it went back before 2006..

Oh poop !!! it is not the TWR car, but it's a Gul T-5R so I can't grumble and I love it. I now have all the Dvla information and have collated it for you all to see. It turns out that it has had 5 different registrations in the 20 years of it's life so far and hopefully will shortly be going back to it's original registration, if the Dvla will allow it, but I don't see why they won't as I have enough reason and evidence to support it's change back.

That's what it felt like, I wasn't right till 9pm when I had a quiet bottle of Hobgoblin for social and medicinal reasons. Had a truck load more than that at york and only had slightly dull head the following day

My last drunken purchase was on WhatsApp on my moby, which was buying my R back................and it usually coincides with the mrs being out as well.
