ive tried that in the past, but it never seemed to last, i used a heat gun in the past as well, but it still needed topping up with one product or another.
this stuff is supposed to last a while, my mate uses it on his jetski and even in salt water it lasts

Plasticare (only available on ebay I believe) is about one of the most permanent treatments you'll find. More like a dye than the usual oily trim treatment. Did my V70 a year ago and it still looks black now even though it's only been washed a handful of times since and has no other products to protect it.

The previous owners of my S40 ran a handheld machine polisher over the bumper trim, leaving marks as they went along. Some of the waxes and trim polishes only lightens it but never removes it. Any ideas on how to get rid of it?

Are the marks physical scuffs in the plastic, or is it left over polish that has stained the trim?

When I bought my 850 in October, the bumpers were nearly white and very unevenly stained.
I did some research and the two 'tried and proven' best ways to permanently restore the bumpers, rather than just treat them, seemed to be Wurth Plastic Dye (£34 from Ebay) or Plasticare (£13 delivered from Ebay).
Being 'economic' I went for the Plasticare, it has been on the car stored outside for over 3 months, results are excellent, a true transformation, but it took 2-3 coats.
Mine were so faded I bought the Plasticare black (not grey), I cleaned bumpers, masked the area with tape and then applied with a dabbing motion. End results looked like this:

After 1 coat of Plasticare... and a few days of rain:

Ive also tried back to black without any relative success. Will look for the plasticare though, thanks. One problem is that I would have to look locally as SA's postal system is kinda....enough said... so ordering from ebay usually ends up in wasted money with no parcel :'(

I think the Plasticare sales on Ebay are a small independent importer (seemed to be a home address), so not sure how much success you'll have getting it in SA.

this is the stuff, comes in a small bottle, but i used hardly any to do the whole car
time will tell if this stuff is good, if it lasts a few months as its supposed to ill be happy
