If there is a southern meet, dates providing you can count me in - and more than likely the friend who has bought my T5 too! (Although he won't actually have the car for another 2-3 weeks).

Just thought I'd bring this thread to the top... I met "t5 stealth" shortly today - some pretty unique mods to his car including a raked rear spoiler which is somewhat striking! Anyway, if anyone is interested in a Southern meet at somepoint I'm sure we could get a few members together and have a drink, share some stories and get some pics of the cars together? Anyone?

Post 59780 by Mrsmopp on 2005-11-24 20:07:48
including a raked rear spoiler !
What's one of them? x

Post 59781 by S60D5 on 2005-11-24 20:14:43
What's one of them? x
A standard spoiler with custom brackets... so it was angled upwards 45 degrees rather than horizontal...

Post 59785 by bradders on 2005-11-24 20:25:31

Depending on the date, I would be up for a meet....It would be interesting to see how many Southerners are members.

Post 59799 by S60D5 on 2005-11-24 21:26:42

Ok.. this is a quick poll of members who would possibly be interested provided the date was right... 1. S60D5 2. JimboT5 3. Bradders 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Lets see a few members from down south!
(Any midlands members fancy coming down this way?)
Possibly, depends when you are thinking of, I know I wont be able to make it this side of xmas tho :(. We may try and do something next year (there has been talk of another southern BBQ) for you southerners ;) x

Post 59945 by siamblue on 2005-11-25 10:36:18

If you really want to see a good selection of clean motors then there is a meet every month at the Crooked Billet in Iver, Bucks, I know it is a bit of a trek for some of you, but it is a good afternoon out, Gary

1. S60D5 2. JimboT5 3. Bradders 4. Rottertron 5. T5 Stealth 6. Kent Canary 7. Buttercup (non volvo owner sorry!) 8. BrightonBreezy 9. 10. Yep, count me in. Would I have to drive up to London first, just so I can drive back home in convoy? :-) The M23 + A23 from London via Gatwick to Brighton is a nice, quick road. But my favourite route from M25 into Brighton is cross country via Tunbridge and Lewes.

Post 60021 by STIB2003 on 2005-11-25 15:04:31

I'd be up for a meet, just up the road in Burgess Hill. (Nice to have a local one) :)

Post 61536 by S60D5 on 2005-12-01 17:05:09

OK... Are we thinking before or after Xmas? Weekday / Weekend Afternoon / Evening ?

Post 61583 by Kent Canary on 2005-12-01 20:20:49

How about a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, give people time to get there, option for staying into an evening, maybe?

Post 61613 by dicky b t5 on 2005-12-01 22:50:32

Nice idea KC.....Maybe meet Sat Arvo, B&B + P155Up Sat Night.... Nice little drive home Sunday....Sounds Good.
Nice idea KC.....Maybe meet Sat Arvo, B&B + P155Up Sat Night.... Nice little drive home Sunday....Sounds Good.
I tried to organise something simlar last year, had quite a few interested but nearer and nearer the suggested date more and more people dropped out due to cost of a B&B etc!!

Post 61649 by t5 stealth on 2005-12-02 00:24:47

cost could be an issue, especially for the people who have driven a long way to get south, as its going to cost them in fuel just to get down this end, an obvious choice to meet would be somewhere like gatwick airport or somewhere like that as its a good landmark & quite easy to find even if your not from around here,it will be well sign posted, makes it a bit easier for the not so locals. just a thought, what do you think, what did you have in mind,

Post 61833 by Kent Canary on 2005-12-02 18:20:55

doesnt have to be a B&B though, it could just be an afternoon meet up and if any good ideas come out of it then people can go from there?

Post 61838 by S60D5 on 2005-12-02 18:36:54
doesnt have to be a B&B though, it could just be an afternoon meet up and if any good ideas come out of it then people can go from there?
How about we say a Saturday afternoon about 3.00pm just north of Brighton? I think it would be best to do it in the new year, as people will be very busy before Xmas, myself included! If we said, about 3pm, we could carry it on into the evening with a meal, then those who wanted to could stay in Brighton and make a weekend out of it and those who didnt could go home...

Post 61846 by Kent Canary on 2005-12-02 19:07:23

I think that sounds fine

As a possible venue, can I suggest the Five Bells Inn on the A275 at Chailey. Fantastic food, large car park, play garden.

I go there usually once a week or more... may have seen you there! Lovely in the evening by that open fire, nice comfortable armchairs! Superb suggestion - I was thinking possibly Devils Dyke, but that pub up there is a little.. clinical!! Yes, the Five Bells it is! *Edit* Any new posts please post on the new thread "Sussex Meet Part II" Mods - can ya lock this post please!
