Yet more issues.....

Everytime I drive my car something else goes wrong :(
My indicators now no longer work when I turn left - the lever clicks down. Sometimes does one flash, sometimes none at all or sometimes work perfectly! It seems to depend on the position of the steering wheel so im guessing its a trapped wire or something?
Secondly - My brake fluid light keeps flashing on - It did this before and I topped it up but its now back on again. So I either have a leak or a faulty level sensor.
Im starting to lose the will to live.....

Sorry to hear about your issues, I bought my S60R in Feb 2014 with 48k on the clock, i am now reading 63k, so in just over 6 months i have spent over 3k, and i still have potential split liners or head gasket problem, an issue with a clunking when i change gear, cruise control don't work but its the brake pedal sensor, and i know over the next 6 months top mounts and various other bushes will need changing. Its not as reliable as the AMG Mercs or MSport Diesels i have had that didn't miss a beat, I soon found out getting a good independant volvo specialist you can trust is a must, and don't scrimp on maintenance and make sure volvo recommended parts are used, it maybe you need to take it to volvo just give it a good service, check the codes, update software etc., if this has not already been done, it was costly for mine but seemed to iron out a number of issues and let me know where my problems were and those that were immediate and those i could monitor. On here i have been saved a few times with some excellent advise!!. I am resolved to the fact that the S60R will cause me some issues!, and i will chip away at them, but nothing quite drives like it in terms of speed, comfort and real exclusivity and you will not find many R's on the road, the R is a performance car and highly strung and takes a little bit more time and effort to keep on the road, i can guarantee your post won't be the last, but hopefully the good people on here can help you out and point you in the right direction!., I just keep my eye on the fact behind the reasons i got mine in the first place, which is exclusivity, comfort and speed, and forgive it of the niggles and nice little messages it seems to leave me every day. I hope you get things sorted out quickly!

My indicators do the same if I haven't driven the car for a while, sometimes if I click the stalk down it takes a second or two before the indicators actually work and it only happens when I indicate left. I've put it down to a slightly dirty contact.

Definitely the BPS? I had the same issue and it was the Clutch Position Sensor. Some cars leak fluid onto the switch, mine was dry but the cruise worked again once the switch was changed.

If the car has a manual gear box it could be the clutch concentric slave cylinder have a look under the car is it leaking fluid onto the floor.

You have my heart felt sympathy, these P2 models are a PITA when they go wrong and you feel like you're just chasing issues around the car. I hope you manage to get it sorted.

If you need a concentric slave cylinder, I have one which is almost as new, only about 8000 miles worth of use. PM me if you need to.

Mate there are a couple of marks on our drive where you were parked the other day.
Check for a leak somewhere.
That is some profound mechanical advice/knowledge ;)

Fan is now also back on - Getting it booked in with a local garage to give me a price on fixing the whole lot - Then I can cry at the cost and make a decision from there!

I take it slave cylinder means replacing the whole clutch set up?

Yes, depending how long it's been in there the DMF will need changing too.

TBF, you don't seem to be having a lot of luck, in the 2 1/2 years we've owned our S60R all that's needed replacing (other than service items) is the VVT unit, and the water pump (but that was because I bought a cheap one off eBay). Ours doesn't have an easy life either, it's been out on track twice, and been up the strip countless times.

BPS = Boost Pressure Sensor
You mean the brake light switch?

1. Indicator stalk <<<<< most likely fault>>>>>
2. Relay
3. (as Steve says), dirty contact, but not likely.
It won't be a 'trapped wire' as you say because the wiring harness to the steering wheel is independant and does not move. All wiring is fixed at the steering column and all steering wheel functions are transmitted via a copper train track.

Update:
Indicator stalk - £73
AC pressure switch - £35
Both of these are being fitted this week whilst the leaky brake fluid issue is also looked at.
If it is the CSC im looking at:
DMF - £353
Clutch kit - £123
CSC - £72
PLUS fitting - Im going to go cry now....
Post 736549 by M-R-P on 2014-09-22 12:23:00
£323 for a DMF?
£123 for a clutch kit?
Sounds too cheap for my liking mate.
Post 736550 by muggins86 on 2014-09-22 12:28:07
Its all LUK kit.
Post 736551 by M-R-P on 2014-09-22 12:31:03
Really suspiciously cheap then..
I paid £212 for the clutch kit, £90 for the slave and £378 for the DMF. This was a couple of years ago and other than this, the cheapest DMF was closer to £500.
Don't forget driveshaft seals, RMS and flywheel bolts - genuine from a stealer will cost you about £60.

D'oh!
The DMF/slave/clutch kit is almost incidental between mine and the R, it's just the springs on the R's clutch plate are stronger I believe (well, they're a different colour). I just can't see it being that much cheaper...?
