We had solar put in 2.5 years ago under scheme where we get free electricity and feed in tarif goes to suppliers / installers.
Genera rated £3600 cash (for installers) and our total energy bill is £60 per month, with running hot tub over the summer.
One of those years was extremely wet affecting performance, but still impressive.
I think the cost was £14k, set to generate save £51k over 25 years of tariff.
This was the 43p per kw
Anyone on else had it installed.

I missed out on that tariff - I was so annoyed because I was messed about. It was not viable to put on the cottage roof so I was looking at a 4KW solution for the garage. But by the time the engineers has messed me about on the project - the tariff was long gone & it was not economically viable to invest. Shame now as I have a new man cave in the backgarden with a perfect roof for the job & a hot tub.
When do you acquiesce your hot tub? Do you leave the water in on a low power setting?

I just chuck it on in the morning, around 10.30, heats about 2degress an hour.
I run it 36-38 area, overnight it drops to 32-33, so only takes couple hours to heat.
Ours is a 3.5kw system.
Hot tubs 2kw.
The radiance levels would be too low after mid sept to cover the cost, but may to now no problem.

our new hot tub is 3KW. I always seem to be late or unavailable when good stuff happens.
I am looking to source a floating cover to reduce heat loss further. I leave mine running all the time as it takes less energy that way.

For me i don't make energy over night as no storage.
A good cover makes a big difference, ours is only a cheap hot tub (for kids as much as us).
Although where we have large savings is, we don't have a boiler or gas in the house, which throws any trades that come in.
We have a large shower which heats it's own water, and a small 15 litres hot water tank under sink which runs the kitchen sink, other toilet and bathroom sink.
So we save on gas and the standing charge for gas.
Have electric heating but house is pretty insulated etc?
So we pay £60 per month total energy, neighbours pay £130.
