Changes to costs, rules and other stuffs

Hey guys, Recent events over the last month or so have prompted some changes. Firstly, the costs of running the forum have very slightly reduced but we feel we are under charging people for using the forum. Therefore effectively immediately we are doubling forum subscription fees. I'm sure you will all agree this represents the same value for money as the previous fees. The Over 18's forum has been re-branded as it seems the name was sending out the message that top shelf material was OK. That particular forum is now called "Not Safe for Work" and is still a "opt-in" forum. (If you wish to opt into the Not Safe for Work forum, use the contact us link at the bottom of the page). It's not a forum for porn, On the rules, rule 10. Images. Do not upload images to VPCUK that you do not have the rights to. (You will be asked for evidence of permission or we will contact the owner direct). There have been a number of attachments uploaded where people didn't have the rights over the images. It is important that when you upload an image to VPCUK that you have rights over that image to effectively grant us the use to show and distribute that image, merely having "for personal use" over an image is not enough. We will soon start the horrid task of going through the 27,080 attachments we currently have on the site checking to ensure they both meet rule 10 and aren't of questionable content. Due to the size of the task, users that have uploaded more than a few attachments they may not have rights over will have all attachments "previously uploaded" deleted and accounts restricted to ensure no more files can be uploaded. This doesn't effect those images that have been linked from 3rd party sites. (Though those images still have to be of an "acceptable" nature). If you wish to look through your own attachments to ensure they comply with the above rule, visit http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/profile.php?do=editattachments Trolling and member/site disruption can be hard to gauge and therefore it's difficult to have a "concrete set of rules" which cover this subject. Therefore cases of (or where we have impressions of) trolling and member/site disruption will be judged "case by case" by the management team who will come to the final conclusion and act accordingly. (Which will likely result in account restrictions or a temporary/permanent ban from using the site). Thanks for reading anyway, sorry the subscription fees are going up :P

I stopped reading when he said the subs are going up, I'm outta here, I can't afford that, I have many cars to run. In fact I may start a petition to keep the subs as they are. :D

Talking of bad spelling, we all make some mistakes and typos. What really makes me laugh is reading stuff that some of my colleagues write at work, the majority of them have below standard writing skills including spelling. The classic is "colleagues" spelled "colleges" and, the other one I notice that is quite common is "conversation" spelled as "convocation". It frustrates me to see so much bad spelling rather than just the odd word here or there, but at the same time I have to laugh at it.

Where has the 'Edit' button gone, why has it been removed? If someone makes a typo and needs to correct it they can't, which means Admin will now get flooded with requests saying, "can you change that typo on such and such a thread to XYZ". If it really has been removed then that's a silly idea.

You'll find that the edit feature has always been missing from this forum for all except Admin/Mods. There is a magic back end to a forum that has lots of little buttons and things, they control the level of access .... oh the fun I could go have now....

At the risk of being serious (and/or soppy) for a second, and god forbid, staying on topic(ish). I'd like to say summit... In the early days, when Santa and Pinup_gal took over, I wasn't all that keen. I think I probably made that obvious! I did think at the time you wielded a big stick a bit too much. However as time has gone on, I've really come to enjoy using this forum again, as I did 10 odd years ago. I genuinely think you guys are doing a great job of running the forum now, and I really do feel at home here, as much as I do on T5D5. I've had a few warnings over the last couple of years from yourselves, and probably been a bit of a tosser to both of you at one stage or another, for which I apologise. Keep up the good work I say. The only suggestions I have to improve things further is remove the ££££ing god damn £££££££ mother ££££ing swear filter. And boot out "you know who"! Or better still, make me a mod so I can take pleasure in doing it myself :B_thumb::B_thumb::B_thumb:

The announcements forum doesn't allow you to start new posts either. The lack of editing wasn't a restriction implemented on purpose, its merely being like that for a long while but you don't normally post in here.
