Hi all, I am now a fully fledged Volvo owner, I have two V70 D5's. Brought my wife one around 6 months ago, 2006 model, lots of extra's. Perfect for our two young children, a very nice car! Just retired my VW Passat sport tdi which had 302,000 miles on it! I commute to Heathrow airport so do quite a lot of miles approx 35k a year! The plan was to get an XC90 for my wife and I was going to have her V70, but another V70 D5 came up so I got that. It's a 2004, facelift but with older engine & gearbox. It had 220,000 miles on it but is in mint condition inside & out after having one careful owner since new who meticulously maintained it at main dealer with no expense spared! Very pleased! Thinking of getting my 2004 remapped as there is some difference between the 163 & 185 cars. The 185 seems to fly but 163 is slow of the mark. Any suggestions welcomed. Don't want to spend £500 on the MTE remap, Angel do one for £250 which seems more reasonable. Will probably see me posting quite a bit in the technical stuff as I like to do all my servicing/maintenance myself. Have just ordered vida/dice so just trying to source a laptop which meets the requirements. Think that's about it, so far extremely impressed with the V70, can see why my grandad, who always had Volvo estates always went on about them!

Hi Higgy, I've never had the diesel but a few p2s, I've already gone through most of there charming issues and drive a 2006 v70r. I've got vida plus an incredibly good code reader if your in need. Don't go for the rica map as I did drive one and it was terrible, 30% throttle was wide open. The 185 is a euro 4 car iirc, but there are plenty of diesel chaps about.

Welcome aboard :) With the 163, make sure it's all up together prior to having it remapped. The older engines are known to have "twitchy" injectors that can play up, also the seals can leak and you get a sticky puddle of fuel around the bottom of the injector. The advantage of the 163 is no DPF which means it'll be more fun once mapped :)
