Hello everyone,
Just checking in here, I am now the proud owner of a 96 850 T5 GLT with 136k miles, bought from a friend last weekend. It's nice and original apart form a stainless steel exhaust which makes a decent 5 pot burble!
It's a complete departure from my French/Japanese/German car history, the list of previous cars includes those below...
2014 Audi A4 TDI
2011 BMW 320d Touring
2009 Clio RS 200 Cup
2005 BMW 320d
1996 Toyota MR2 Turbo
2000 Honda S2000
2000 Honda Accord Type R (I still moderate this forum)
1998 Ford Mondeo 2.0 Ghia
1994 Honda Civic VTI
1994 Citroen AX GTi
1994 Renault Laguna 2.0 RXE
1993 Citroen ZX 16V
1991 Citroen ZX 1.9i Volcane
1991 Vauxhall Belmont SXi
1989 Vauxhall Astra SRi
Plus a load more that were even less interesting
I live in South France where my car mojo has been stolen by the A4 TDI 2014 company car, but my Volvo T5 resides in Suffolk, UK, looking for some good advice, cheap and reliable mods and general standard but mint mentality with some choice upgrades as things wear out.

Welcome along :)
As you moderate a car forum, you should be aware of the need for pictures in your introduction thread ;)
All the info on T5's you'll ever need is right here :D
Not from me of course, too old for my liking but there's lots of old farts here that know the 850 :shifty:

M-R-P - Oops, first time error on forgetting to get some pictures up, need to get them off my UK phone when I make it back home from work, I'm 40 now so the car matches my ageing persona :)
Jamesy - Young man mistakes and company cars... honest guv  I'm down here in Lyon, been here 6 years now :o

Nice place Lyon, great for Alps snowboarding through the winter months!
Pity Easyjet have just killed their flight route into Stansted which was on my UK doorstep :(

Welcome to the club buddy

Invoices state my buddy £750 spent on her in the last month (ITG filter, Stainless cat back, Volvo specialist service, new filters and wipers all round, all fluids, recent air con regas) so I gave my mate a good fair price on it :)
Here are those pics, needs a little tidying work but I'm fairly sure it can be made mint condition very quickly:

Tidy - this colour polishes up really nicely (have a look at Oblark's car).
Rear plate is wonky ;)

Due to my OCD, I shall now have to get a tape measure and spirit level onto that rear plate

No need for the tape measure.....raise the plate 6mm on the o/s and drop the rear wiper 20mm - we'll be square & true then ;)
Oh....Welcome to VPC lol

Cheers Marty, We're probably a similar age... Those cars were good ones back in the day
I cannot find anything much wrong on the T5, would like to find out how to replace the little orange light in the air con button and also if someone remarkably had some mint condition front beige leather seats mine that could be a change.
Other than that it appears to be keeping an eye open for a RICA ECU or getting my one remapped would be a great direction to head after the brakes are sharpened up.
Surprised how quick the old beast feels for 225bhp/1420kg to be honest, certainly feels like it has kept it's horses well fed over the years...

I stuck a K&N cone and MBC on my MR2 Turbo, managed to stop there. I like a standard looking car with a few extra psi

Nearly forgot, need to find a better product than 'Back to Black' to convert these greying (like my hair) bumpers!

Welcome.... I said I was going to keep my old V70r standard.... 20 months ago.
I even bought a ep3 ctr as I knew I'd keep it standard. 6 months of searching for the right t5 manual and....... I'm still buying, fiddling & playing.
It gets addictive. Lol

Will have to order some of that plastic dye!
Post 746960 by kmb on 2014-11-07 16:39:30
For those that are interested - I was just about to order some of that Wurth Plastic dye and stumbled across a thread suggested a cheaper alternative that is just as good, Plasti-care, found on Ebay and widely used on the Pug GTi forums.
£14 versus £32 inc P+P, get in there :)
