The van that wrote off the cabbie earlier in the year has just hit the Soarer! Different driver this time but same result, damage. This time it's the rear wing, and rear bumper, I know they don't like us having as many cars as we do, but this is getting ridiculous. Luckily I was out having a fag at the time, so saw it happen, the guy got out of the van, and cheerily said "I've hit your car", no point going mental at him, but seriously it was parked in the same place as always, so he must have known it was there. I'm guessing they'll write it off, just hope I get a decent amount for it.

I haven't got the facilities to remove the engine, but I'll see what I'm offered (there are no V8 Soarers on ebay at the moment, so don't know how theyt'll value it) and go from there.

Just a thought really. Years ago, Mrs. M-R-P sneezed and drove into the back of a transit. When she gave the report to the insurance company, she mentioned the driver wasn't wearing his seatbelt and the guys insurance was not only void, along with his personal injury claim but our car was repaired for free and our no claims was unaffected even though it was clearly her fault. :)

don't forget the medical condition which means he can rotate his head only 20% of usual movement...that's a real one - someone bumped me and it came out in court he had a previous neck injury and couldn't turn his head fully...........& where was the crash??...On a roundabout in a busy town centre.
Some people shouldn't be allowed out of the house...driving is a privelege not a right...

That's terrible. Your missus caused the accident, but gets everything fixed for free, while the other guy losses out for doing nothing wrong. :(

It does state in your policy that you must abide the current laws of the highway, so if it can be proven that this was the case (and could have been backed with CCTV etc or witness statement) then insurance can be voided. They'd do what they can be back out of a claim.

Not only backed up by a witness statement but the guy admitted it too. The seatbelt law has been in force since Jan 31st 1981 - if he can't understand the law by now, he deserves to get screwed.

I agree with mike, seems incredibly unfair, the law is an ass most of the time.
Speaking of unfair, just been watching the disabled guy over the road, (who clearly get higher motability, as he has just got a new car) walk out of his house with buckets of water to clean the car,
at least he doesn't seem to have back trouble, as he is bending down cleaning the wheels with a brush!
Also he was up an a frame step ladder trimming the tree above, to stop leaves dropping on it (obviously it's in his own reserved disabled bay, as he couldn't possibly walk very far).

That won't matter as by law a courier or delivery driver is allowed to not wear his/her seatbelt if only travelling a very short distance between drops.

Video him then send the video in to the council who will investigate and prosecute him! I friggin hate spongers!!
