Right I'd better start a thread for this, purchased for £450 from a disabled chap who has just given up diving (bloody good job going by the state of the near side).
It was his pride and joy for the last 11 years and serviced every 4k on fully synth, so mechanically it's good and I know a chap who is very good with a spray can.
This is not a school run car and just a bit of fun and for me an alternative for something like a BMW (however I think I may buy an amg or something soon).
Plans are
K24 and appropriate injectors pretty much have most things on a shelf somewhere (did I say I hoard parts).
Ttv flywheel, 850r clutch.
Afr gauge
Chip with raised limiter and no fuel cut ordered.
Boost gauge ordered
17 x 7 steelies ordered (may dish not sure yet)
New shocks and spring next month.
3 inch full system with race cat
350mm 4 pots brakes or whatever will fit (have a few sets here to try).
Ported head and ipd cam
Maybe a roll cage?
I understand these can be quite quick on the standing quarter.
Definitely going for the rat look, not too sure about stretched tyres though.

Fair play to him, was it 10m board or deep sea ?

Well my steelies arrived today 17 x 7 and it took some time but I managed to find some in the correct offset from an unusual car, infact I had to order them from Germany.
Total result they fit and clear the front struts! I was considering banding them but I will possibly not now as I want to keep a low profile car, to surprise others lol.
I had the foresight to order a complete suspension leg for mocking up brakes, so today I found a few minutes to go through my spares and found some nice 320mm discs that will fit under the steelies, without spacers, so it's a double result, big brakes that fit under steelies and steelies that fit without a spacer of any sort.
Very happy
Mbc and chip also turned up and I dug out some blues and a turbo also.
Just some lowering springs and shocks and were all good.

Quite liking the 17" steelies :)
What are they from?
Post 748836 by Ettienne on 2014-11-21 18:07:27
An extremely hard to get full sized Volvo steel only sold on the continent in a different offset.
Post 748973 by Ettienne on 2014-11-22 17:28:26
A steelie on the car with clearance, note there is no spacer!
Steel valve and there will be some kind of centre to the rim, maybe a stainless edge trim but wheels will be black

Looks pimp with the centre trim!

Just waiting for my new 205/45/17s to arrive then have them fitted in the morning.
I doubt I'll do much more this side of Xmas.
I may plumb in the boost gauge and fit the blues, then turbo and suspension in jan.

So finished bracket in plate ally and it's a go-er!!
A couple of minor issues, which can be over come in 1 of 2 ways.
Just deciding which is best.
Whilst I'm here are the front shocks an insert or complete leg?
Post 749626 by jks on 2014-11-26 18:08:44
Std 940 has inserts. For some reason 940 abs don't like big brakes all round..I've removed mine. .
Post 749638 by Ettienne on 2014-11-26 18:40:33
I'm only going for the front and it's 316mm on xc90 calipers, hopefully all will be well.
Post 749886 by Ettienne on 2014-11-28 15:22:46
Steelies look fab especially in the flesh.
Gonna drop it after Xmas, 40mm is most lowering springs but I'd like 60mm if I can find cheap coilovers.
Nigh on finished brackets for brakes (template) so they should be on soon too.
I'll probably get bored with it in February lol.
Post 749889 by oblark on 2014-11-28 15:47:09
That needs lowering it looks like a XC90
Post 749895 by Sweep on 2014-11-28 18:20:38
I'll be interested if you do get bored ;)

Your best bet is go DIY. There is no cheap coilover solution for us.
From the motherland they are unbelievably expensive. The ones from retro turbo are looking good, but expensive and doesn't include shocks! The same goes with the kaplhenke coilovers...
I'll buy a set of Koni yellows, threaded sleeves and unversal coilover springs. Than start bashing :)

Brake ally template is made, shaped and been bolted up and all is well.
I'll get it laser cut in 8-10 steel and job done.
316 / 320mm xc90 calipers and discs.

Post 750511 by Ettienne on 2014-12-03 12:44:15

Will be finishing the brackets in 10mm steel tomorrow.
Not laser cutting as not many local firms and it's only for myself.

I'll be preoccupied with the gul when it's back in 2 weeks.
Post 771813 by Ettienne on 2015-05-06 17:29:10
Ok so gul is nigh on completed at last.
I found some goodies at the breakers a 4.4 ECU for the 850 and a gold top ezk bid for the 940.
So it's still coming along slowly.
Just looking for a 3" maf.
