Group Buy - Halo Clocks?

In a past life (last year) i owned a toyota surf, and upon joining the club/forum we as a group bought sets of these. Image The company in the usa didnt make them for the surf but agreed that if we got 10 orders (think it was 10) they would build them especialy for us. Which they did at a cost of about £27 all in. Just wondered if any people here were interested? in the day they are plain white by the way, but i can vouch for how good they look and the great craftsmanship that goes into them. Dont mistake them for stick on E-bay specials..! The pic i put up isnt the greatest.. Comments?

Specific model mate, we had the same thing with the 2nd and 3rd generation surfs.. We would have to get 10 orders of each specific model.. They are very nice though, let me look for a better pic. There called electrolumicent or sommot similiar.... will check back in a few days when im home again on the feedback from you guys.. Image

I'd be interested in some for the 850 too, always thought that the standard ones could use a little livening up.
Ooops.. forgot to pm a Moderator, not sure if you guys do that here before doing stuff like this.. apologies if you do.
No need if it's for a private / independent group buy... so long as it's not a "group buy for VolvoT5.co.uk" as that would set us up for some future liability! Cheers.

AT £27.00 definately put me down for a set 160mph clock. These are cheaper than my source (£45.00) and he hasn't got an original to copy yet... Although once he has made one he can make any custom design you want...

I'm interested in a 2001 C70 set. I'm assuming my T5 GT convertible has identical clocks to the coupé.

Post 59465 by After_Shock on 2005-11-23 18:06:21

Do these just stick on top of the original dials? If not whats involved to install them? If their not a chew on will have a set for a C70 aswell, im sure the dials in the C70 are identical to the S/V70 but are different from the 850.

Post 60595 by nobananas on 2005-11-27 23:03:04

Post 60596 by Assasin on 2005-11-27 23:06:26

Not sure how we will get the money together yet, maybe we should nominate a trusted treasurer? On the dimmer question, no they are not. Sorry. Still waiting for the company to come back to me!! But i did call them today and left a message on on the answer phone (in the Usa)

Post 69137 by Unknown on 2006-01-02 21:26:18

if they're not too much of a chore to fit, and dependent on design (original looking etc) then I'd have a set

Post 69167 by Assasin on 2006-01-03 00:33:20

Ok just emailed ALL the addresses again... Will keep you informed...

Post 69187 by shiney on 2006-01-03 08:52:13

I'm sory, but I don't see the point in these. Am i missing something? Because of the green backing on the original dials, you can just replace the standard bulbs for blue ones and they will work a treat. :) Also as a useful tip, if you go out and buy a few sets of push in 20's christmas lights, the bulbs are 12volt rated and are easily removed from their bulb holders. Of course, they'll also be on a special price in the sale bins too. Use the blue ones to replace the existing lamps and you'll be fine. ;)

Post 69202 by Assasin on 2006-01-03 09:48:04

It might look nice but it wouldnt have this effect though would it..? The whole dial set is on big light you see.. not just bulbs behind them. Image
It might look nice but it wouldnt have this effect though would it..? The whole dial set is on big light you see.. not just bulbs behind them. Image
yeah, that's fair enough and i see what you mean, but you'llalso have to bear in mind the fact that the LCD display will still be backlit in green.

Post 69232 by Assasin on 2006-01-03 12:58:35

and that is something i had not thought of.. :slap: Well spotted... Can the bulb for that be changed to a different colour then?

Post 69236 by shiney on 2006-01-03 13:23:22
and that is something i had not thought of.. :slap: Well spotted... Can the bulb for that be changed to a different colour then?
I'm looking into it in the next few days, I'll let you know how i get on but I suspect it can be changed to blue. :)

''but you'll also have to bear in mind the fact that the LCD display will still be backlit in green'' This must be changeable also. - I assume. My bro repairs Sony equipment, and in my old car, i gave him my headunit and he changed the color of the lcd display from orange to green to match my dash, but i could have had a few other colors.
