Well folks they say once you defect you always head back! True to that so have I Octavia vRS has now gone and made way for my new (well new to me) S40 2.0D SE Sport. Alright not a T5 I know but unfortunately needs must and the little 136bhp engine is still lively enough ... for now! The car has pretty much all foreseeable extras fitted bar sunroof and electric passenger seat and to its credit has full service history from new it has had the cambelt done early and also the DPF changed at 85k so fingers crossed some trouble free motoring. Plans? Well give it a bloody good clean and detail for a start, the paintwork seems to be in good condition, I count only two scratches both of which are minor surface and two or three stone chips. The alloys could do with a blast over too but otherwise sound. Next on the list will probably be a remap and replace two of the tyres which are budget federals, the other two are Hankook S1 Evo so more than good enough. Thoughts so far? Well it handles well, is ten fold more comfy than the skoda, its frugal, economical, has a fantastic stereo and I think actually looks quite stylish for a Volvo! Image Image Image

First job today was to repair the factory nav which now fails to open by itself, after alot of research there is a common fault with the plastic splines breaking from the lifting mechanism. Confident this was the problem as you could still hear the motor I ordered the genuine volvo spares for a shocking £13 and set about work. Half hour later it was repaired with the reason it didnt rise below... Image As you can see the cog had completely clean snapped off! Final job today after seeing them on offer was a set of Osram Nightbreaker Ultimates to fit, only £17.99 at Euro car parts. Image
are you finally crawling out the closet?
Seemed the logical thing to do... only following in your footsteps, only you fell out rather than climbed! ;)

I really like the look of the s40 and v50 R designs, and that looks especially good in that colour. Frankie, 35 miles a week?? I do that in a day and my commute isn't far at all.

Nice I like that, seems to have aged well these, you wouldn't have guessed that the first of these are now 10 years old! Be good to see how the car changes whilst you own it, for the next 6 months or so anyway ;)

As for the time... cheeky git the Skoda lasted 11 months and a considerable amount of miles... 149K (January) bought sold at 185k (November)
