Hi Everyone,
First of all, there's something wrong with me. I didn't need another car.... I've got more cars than I can drive, but that still didn't stop me impulse buying a T-Gul wagon last week.
I'll post some pictures up when I take some, and let you know the details as I go. The car had a VPCUK.org decal in the rear screen, so maybe it will be known on here? It's recently been resprayed and refurbished by it's previous owner, so looks pretty good, just a few finishing touches to do hopefully!
Reg is M824 RNY if anyone has previously owned it?
I'll be coming up with a parts wanted list, but what I most would like are a full set of tailgate badges, as all of mine have been lost/broken during the respray!!
All the best,
Mark F

Hello mark welcome yeah the car is from a previous forum owner as for badges try giving frf volvo a ring some one not too long ago bought some so they may still be available.
Just out of curiosity if you dont mind me asking what did the car sell for

Hello and welcome fellow newbie, is this the yellow wagon with auto box that was on Ebay?

Welcome along matey, I hope you are more enthusiastic than its last owner. Enjoy the car
Edit: All the tailgate badges add up to around £80 from Volvo

Hi chaps,
Yes, it's a waft-tastic auto. It's VERY yellow!
It's probably the one you've seen on Ebay.... Don't know if the link will still work?

I paid less than £5,000 for the car, which given the respray and rebuild work I think was a fair deal.
So far there doesn't seem to be anything too untoward with it.... perhaps a small turbo leak, as a bit of smoke eminating from the back of the block on start-up, but will look into that at the weekend. The mods Rich has done won't be to everyone's taste (carbon wrapped dash, black headlining etc, but I think they are quite nice modernising touches.
Not too worried about the cost of the badges, I'd just really like a set (as missing badges always scream accident damage to me).

welcome! I got a decent silver original volvo and 850 badge if you want them?

Given the effort that went into the car, price seems OK, plenty of nice new parts.
I found a few sets of badges on Ebay so might be worth looking on there.

Excellent! That backs up my belief that the car has, how best to put this..... "experienced life to the full"!

Nice car! People will comment on it not being 100% original but all the changes are reversable if you're a purist. You have yourself a real future classic there.

Welcome along, the two threads relating to this car seem to have been removed, but the consensus was that it was a nice car, people weren't keen on the carbon vinyl on the inside but otherwise it is a nice car, the previous owner on the other hand is a different story, He was just someone hoping to make a quick profit on the car and wasn't very happy about the value the forum members put on the car.

A polite way of putting his recent actions on here. But at least the car hasn't been scrapped.

Great to see its been bought by an enthusiast. A lot of work was done on the car, so it should be basically sound. As said ^^^^ the more contentious changes are cosmetic and can be reversed if you want to put it back to std.
Oh, and :welcome:

Welcome! Good to see the gul returns.

Thanks for the welcome all.
Had time over the weekend to give it a look over, and it also went into Volvo for a piece of mind overcheck.
I think I'll start a "my car" type thread to keep you entertained with, but so far it looks to be in pretty good health!
Immediate jobs to do:
- Wheel alignment (it went into Volvo to have this done, but the fixings were apparently seized. Weird, as it was apparently done just before sale).
- See if occasional back of engine smoke returns. It was quite oily down the back of the engine, but no obvious leak, so will monitor this)
- Get heater working (it's only just bearable warm on a long journey, with the heater on max)
- Longer term, fix the AC.
The parts list is growing too :0)

I wouldn't have bothered taking it into a main dealer, as mine says quite often that I'm probably better than they are with the cars as they never see them.
Find a good Indy
