Hi, I bought a V70 T5 2.4 260bhp 6 Speed Manual 166k miles ex police ex ambulance a few weeks back, been meaning to write this post for some time. The car runs very nicely (I got lucky I think) just had it serviced from PYE Volvo Stirchley Birmingham (they are the best, honestly nice honest guys that will give you the time of day, highly recommended). My cousin recommended them he's got a V70R. I have put in a stereo, two new front tyres and upgraded to a piper cross air filter. I got a long list of stuff I want doing, so will be keeping you guys posted as I progress with that, mainly minor body work i.e. holes and paint touch ups where police stickers were. I am looking to get it remapped (any advice/experience on tuning an ex police will be welcomed) which is a story in itself which you will soon hear about. I have 2 volvo buddies on here who are Rogo1806 and Rahul! Hopefully make a few more. Cheers Sanj Heres some pics:

Welcome. How does it compare against the R?
Welcome. How does it compare against the R?
My cousins R is a different beast. Its got two maps, one is very progressive and performs well on lower end, second and third gear is very impressive. The other map is more explosive in power delivery - better at motorway driving. My T5 is standard and can keep up just about - will see when mine is mapped :-) Cheers for the Welcome.

Welcome. Plenty of power to be had from your engine, just make sure its all running well before you do start modding it.

Hello and welcome You can get a lot out of your engine as people have said above ensure you get it all checked over before starting to modify it id recommend getting the engine pressure tested. My S60 runs the same engine as your V70 so long as you get it fully checked over 1st then look at getting an full exhaust including downpipe you may want to speak to graeme welsch on here as he does a good 3" system for the S60 at reasonable prices, then get some bigger injectors greens or vxr should do and you will see around 350ish bhp with a good map, I suggest dream3r on here as thats what mine is running but there are other options available. Last time on the rollers mine made 343bhp with a 3" catback and meth injection so you can see how well these map.

Lots of ex service cars about at the moment :) welcome aboard, don't often see ex - ambulances in T5 format, they're usually oil-burners.

Put some rails on today. Pretty straight forward but my hands were about to drop off it was FREEEEZING!

Post 754613 by expolicev70t5 on 2015-01-05 10:02:30

I put some of those on my ex plod, was a bit of a pain cutting out in the aluminium trim

Post 754618 by M-R-P on 2015-01-05 10:36:17

That's one thing mine won't be getting. Just doesn't look right on a plodder imo. I wonder if the increased drag will make a noticeable difference to MPG?

Post 754632 by expolicev70t5 on 2015-01-05 13:08:23

No I got same MPG before and after :)

Makes it not look like an explod so much and also makes it look like it's sitting lower. also can't notice the black grommets in the roof (due to be painted white... That's all I can be arsed to do to them lol) MPG.... Lol
I put some of those on my ex plod, was a bit of a pain cutting out in the aluminium trim
Cutting wasn't too bad for me. I had trouble with the black and yellow clips. They fragile I broke some of the yellow ones need to get some more.
Cutting wasn't too bad for me. I had trouble with the black and yellow clips. So need to watch out for one at a breakers.

Not an easy job and took 48 quid worth of wrap but it's still doing fine, 3 years later (maybe 4 - not sure lol). The only real way you'll stop it looking like a plodder is to paint it a different colour :) Enjoy the look - and the look of fear on the drivers around you :D

I just had mine remapped by shemtek racing, it's dream3r map. All I can say is.......... (Speechless). My cousin who got v70r drove it and he was the same... I'll do a proper write up of it on the other thread later

Yeah - Jon's making a real name for himself now, been following his progress for a while and I've not seen a bad review yet.

Dream3r map, I was originally looking at MTE based on feed back form some old posts on T5D5 but following recent posts on here changed my mind.
