Was going to fit some new rear pads to my 96' 850 T5 a couple of weeks ago but chickened out when I saw how rusty the slide pins looked, mainly as I was 40 miles from home at a mate's house and thought it would be a bad time to be stranded if the pins broke, bent or got stuck etc during the pad change.
I found this pad fitting kit on Ebay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volvo-960-940-850-780-760-740-Pagid-109-0980-Rear-Brake-Pad-Fitting-Kit-ATE-/400429061575?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item5d3b6e95c7
Strangely it does not list the 850 T5, but does list V70 T5 on a 97 - I think they should be identical and it's an omission for the 850. Can anyone confirm it's the correct slide pins for my car?
Only a fiver but if they're wrong it will leave me stuck mid-change.
Thanks in advance knowledgeable people of the forum :)

For £5 it isn't going to break the bank, but they look like the right ones for my 850

Thanks - I've had a Google search with the Volvo part number mentioned (109-0980) and it is indeed confirmed compatible with the 850 T5, ordered! :)

ATE are the original manufactures of callipers on 850s.

For thread completion, this kit fitted perfectly, bargain as at £5 it was about 1/3rd the price of Volvo.

Some good info in there Wobbly Dave!
I must admit for the first time I paid a local garage £50+VAT to do the job, I looked through the wheel at the rusted discs and pins and thought... This could be a nightmare given the cars age and the car might get stuck on the drive whilst I free things up.
When I asked the garage how it went they said everything came apart no problems. Damn it
