As above, do we have a rough idea as to how much it would cost to stick a set of H section rods in my 850? I keep reading bad things about going down the 19T route on a standard bottom end, I know it's very much a case of how progressive the boost is, but I don't want to be limiting the engines potential!

Fitting rods is a head and sump off job. Add in all gaskets, sealants, a cambelt if it isn't a recent one and you won't walk away with must less than £700. You can probably find cheaper, but I'd be wary if they haven't done your car before.
You could always try Tim Williams for a quote. I've never used him, but he does come recommended

Yep as Judge says ide personally put 1k aside your looking at £400 on rods £200 on gaskets and sealer if using gen Volvo £100-£200 on other bits and bobs then there labour.
As said above the best guy to ask to do it is Tim.
One main thing to remember is how much miles does your engine have does it have=
Good compression
Good cylinder walls
Are the bearings worn?

if it helps i have budgeted £3500-£4000 just for my engine, forged rods and pistons are £1200 alone, then headwork and larger valves another £1200.

Yep certainly.not cheap I think in total I spent 2k or just over doing it myself

I wasn't including the purchase price of the rods.
Then add a "just whilst it's off" job and refurb the head for another few hundred. Then replace the stem seals... Port it at the same time to get more power l.
Now we're up to £2k+

Donor T5 engine was 300 quid.
I spent 2200 just on getting MJA to do the engineering work. That included a full strip & deep clean & inspection. They fully balanced the crank and forged internals, head ported
and polished with matched manifolds. It also included cambelt, gaskets and labour. MJA also lowered the compression ratio from 8.5 to 7.95 to 1.
The additional parts including rods and forged pistons were 1000 quid. I also spent on new ancilliaries like the water, oil pump and VVT sprocket (ME7 engine)
Obviously this is just the engine.

MJA do engine pre-dominantly for motorsport (autograss).
