You may remember the southern gas had to cut off our house as we do not use gas any longer. Well there stupidity continues to astound me. Yes that's right, all that is needed to protect the front of your car from the pneumatic drill is the "workers jacket" I was less than understanding and fortunately at home.

I had a guy years ago working above my car on a lamp post with a cherry picker, and yes he did drop a fitting and yes it put a nice dent in the roof, but the alarm went off so the guys at work looked over to see the guy looking around, but they got his firms info for me as I was off site at the time. But I did get a hire car for a week when it went into the body shop to get fixed.:)

I wonder would they do the same if it was their own car parked there I guess it's a "I've got to do my job and ££££££££ to anyone else" kind of attitude

Did they not ask you to remove your car as is the custom before they should have started? If they didn't I would send the contractor your photo and ask the question. Where did they put there signage on the roof of your car?
No they didn't it was on the drive and we had popped out and came back to it.
If you parked there when they were digging they were within there rights to carry on working. It was up to you to move your car or get it damaged. If it was on your property that is a different story.

I have 4 cars and was using one of the others.

If it was planned work you should have had notification .Emergency work is different. At least they used barriers that complied with regs and the hole was far enough away from your car.Normally you would leave enough room to go down the sides of the barriers but sometimes that's not possible. Was there any work signs as none shown in your pic. There should have been with a walk way if the pavement was closed or you block it off if you can.. Lucky you only have 4 vehicles to pick from. What was there answer when you confronted them?

No noticification, which I queried as there boss came out when I went mental at them, his reason was " we are no longer gas customers and they have no obligation to give us notice" signs at the end of the road, no walk way and they just turned up when we were out. I made them stop and shift all there gear so I could move the car. They then realised that it's a single feed to houses and could they dig up the drive, you can imagine my answer.
