Back in Sept. I bought an E46 330i Tourer to carry out new puppy in a crate in the boot. Unfortunately, I disnt check to make sure the crate will fit in the boot! 😳 It doesn't. Need to have the seats folded down. This coupled to the fact I just don't like the BMW in comparison to Volvo means I'm looking for another estate to run alongside my S60. Considering a V70 or V40 diesel. Can't find a nice V70 D5 in budget at the moment (£1800 max.) but I've found a lovely 2004 V40 1.9D Sport. What are these like? Comfy? Reliable? I'm guessing not particularly quick, but that's not really the be all and end all! I'd also appreciate it if any owners can get some dimensions of the boot for me?

I've got two V40s (TDI and T4) the boot is nothing to write home about. Bottom lip is annoying to the point when I bought a TV it was better to slide it behind the rear seats. Depending on the size of your crates I would guess that you'll struggle. Regarding power, I think you be surprised. It's not T5 powered, but just enough to keep up with the fast lane hoggers.. Where are you in the country?

I'm in Waterlooville near Portsmouth. I was think that the boot looks deeper than the BM as it hasn't got to house the RWD gubbins underneath. But, on second thoughts, the big lip under the tailgate will stop the door of the crate opening. Think I'm going to have the stick it out for a V70!

Well I'm only up in Guildford if you want a play... I'll sell you my TDi for a lot less than £1800, but it's a shed!!

Thanks mate, I'll bear that offer of a play in mind! But, I don't want to end up with another car that doesn't suit my needs re the dog crate, so I'll end up sticking out for a V70 no doubt!
