Hi Guys and Girls Aquired a 1996 850 CD estate with 96k on the clock - CHEAP..... Its a 2.5 10v is the ONLY down side, I havent got it at home yet as no space quite yet. Will post pics when I can ;) I wanted a NON TURBO for reasons that will become clear later BUT my question is: I wanted a 20v so can I swap out the 10v entire block (complete) for a 20v one? Cheers Phill

On the face of it, yes. But the 10v uses different management to the rest, so not quite so simple I'm afraid :(

[QUOTE=Doingitsideways;760096]On the face of it, yes. Very very easy! Converted my old 2.5 10v too a 2.5 20v turbo (lpt from 855 awd) wiring and ecu is plug and play just make sure they come from the same 20v engine you will use. Dismantle ecu box and you will see it splits in two where ecu sits.. back half goes too car interior/fusebox front half is all 3ft of engine loom. just plug the 20v loom in place of the 10v and drop in the 20v ecu,..obvs with 20v engine. hope that answers your Q's

If your going to get a T5 donor car, why don't you just buy a T5 to use?

Yeah seems to be all the mint shells are old fella's in their 2.0 10v plod-alongs, serviced religiously at volvo dealerships and parked on driveways for their lifespan. While all nice T5's /R's are / were modded, shagged or wrecked or just too expensive to find a good one. Be interesting thread to follow if you do go for a turbo install, you got any pics of the shell as is now ?
