Wondering if anyone can help me here. My wipers work fine in use, but I notice that they do not always park properly when turning off or changing setting, I also notice that intermittent wipe sometimes doesn't work. My guess of the problem is one of the following, I'll work through to put it correct: Wiper relay? Wiper stalk switch? Which is likely to be the problem and how easy are the above to change? I'm assuming motor is OK as it functions. Thanks in advance!

First thing to change is the Relay because its the cheapest and easiest. If that doesn't cure it then it's definitely the stalk. Both will cause the symptoms you have so start with the easiest.

Thanks Lee, I'm assuming that the relay and stalk are the same on a 96' 850 as a 98' V70? If so I'll drop a note through to the chap breaking a V70 as I've already bought a few bits and these can be added to my list!

Yep - Seems OK from that side and the two wipers stay parallel during wiping etc.

I have a obtained a new wiper stalk to fit, but still not got around to putting it on - anyone know the easiest way to change the wiper stalk? I'm hoping it's just a case of taking off the steering column plastics, unscrewing and unplugging the old then putting it all back with the new one? Preferrably no touching steering wheel/airbag etc.. Thanks in advance :)

Thanks - I was hoping that was the case! Will report back in to this thread when I get around to changing the part, just in case it helps someone else solve a similar problem :)

Just stuck the replacement wiper stalk on, extend steering wheel, undo the four torx screws under the steering wheel cowling, pop apart. All went well. I've just tested intermittent wipe and it turned on and parked perfectly half a dozen times, hopefully all problems are resolved. Thanks again to people on here!
