Me too Nick it took me 6 months to find this one & I'm finding it hard to resist the more his offer go's up. He's looking for a t5 anywAy but more he looks more he's realising how rare they are becoming with a manual box.
Very angry & upset today, don't think I'm thinking straight but all I'm seeing is ££££'s

Don't make a kneejerk decision now. If they're that rare, think how hard it will be for you to replace it when you find a new job. He has money now and at the moment you're an easy target; keep the fakeR on SORN and let him look elsewhere!

Sugar Biff, sorry to hear of your difficulties and hope you can sort things out :(
Plough on through, a new job is waiting for you. Don't make any rash decisions with the V70, think long and hard.

Sorry about your bad news. The good thing is across the board recruitment has improved in 2015 across the UK.
Depending on your area of expertise you might not be out of work for too long depending on how creative you are.
Don't get too hasty..

Sorry to hear about the work drying up fella - stick at it & have a good look about, sometimes a change is as Good as a holiday & the economy is definitely in growth so should be ok. Again I wish you the best of luck.
As far as the car goes I wouldn't be taking any less than £1500 for it. The manual T5 is becoming pretty rare now & with the mods on yours, including the interior it's worth that all day long, probably a fair bit more. Hang on to it if you can as it will be difficult to replace further down the road, but if needs must & it has to go be hardnosed & hold out for as much as you can get because the car will only go up in value of kept on the road & healthy!
All the best, Morgan

Sorry to hear this Dave, fingers crossed something comes up quickly, as Wayne said the recruitment market is in good health at the moment.

Sorry to hear your having a hard time, hopefully you get to keep the car, I'm hoping things soon turn around for you.

Thanks chaps, sadly I'm used to it now, this is the third job I've had in 2 years & I'm absolutely fed up of temporary jobs that most jobs in manufacturing entail. Yesterday I was told I was a shining example with excellent punctuality & work ethics but we're going to have to let you go! :( I've seen it coming the past 2 weeks, I kind of pick up on the symptoms of lay offs now after years of practise. I've not had a permanent job since 2009 now & I left a job to go to my last company with the promise of a full time career. Load of balls.
Longest I've been unemployed is 16 days, shortest is 4 hours but this country sucks with its disposable labour culture. My boss actually said yesterday he got a load of over 50's that have been working for the company to long but the place is overmanned so the temps are first to go.
Spent all afternoon running cv's around so fingers crossed!
Thanks for the support & I will keep the car as long as I can.

Try and keep hold of it you may just walk into another job, I feel your pain we've had 2 lots of maternity where nicci took the full 9 months each time, in a 3 year period. it's the only time we've been able to claim child benefit and working tax credit, you should be able too as well it will help abit.

Hope you find a job soon. As for the car if it's only worth £1500 as someone mentioned earlier, will that really make a difference to helping you out?
Post 762683 by Nealevo on 2015-03-07 08:29:05
Dave, where are you based? Our place are crying out for people, some stupid people keep buying our cars :)
Sorry just read your location and its a bit far.....
Post 762689 by Biff on 2015-03-07 08:47:26
At the moment no the £1500 wouldn't make that much difference & I have a loft full of car parts to sell first but the major factor is if I get another job I can't say I'm going to be paid what I have been earning. I've worked 7 days a week for many weekends this last 9 months to keep our funds up.
My wife has said she will come off maternity & go back to work but I really don't want that to happen. In the last half hour I've had 2 of my former team leaders contact me to say they will find out Monday morning for me... I just hate this feeling of not having work! Strange after working every day since I left school in 1997.
The reason for me signing up for job seekers is basically for the tax credits, now junior is here we are entitled to a lot more than we would before. It's just worrying with him although I know we won't starve.
Another kick in the teeth was I went for an interview 3 weeks ago for a machine setting job. The 2 guys interviewing me wanted me for the job yet next day I get told i was too skilled & would have an unfair advantage with the other 2 men who got the 3 jobs... Last week I found out my current manager put a stop to me moving into the machine shop as I was valuable in my section then 3 weeks later I'm unemployed due to the last in first out rule.
The same manager told me yesterday they were letting me go. Felt like breaking his nose all over his face but I never burn my bridges as you never know what's around the corner.
So angry. This country has gone to ££££. I've tried all angles to get a career. All I want is a permanent job & As a skilled man who's not afraid to graft, intelligent (although dyslexic), punctual & not had a day sick since 2007 why can't i?? So frustrating!
Neal I'm in wrexham, I have applied for jaguar Land Rover in Speke on merseyside. Relocation is not an option unless I give the mrs her p45. ;)
I have 7 years experience in motor manufacturing with toyota so hopefully can land something, probably temp contract yet again.
Thanks lads I feel I've vented off. ;)

What Mike said^^^ 1500 quid might be nice right now but I think better off selling the parts of first. You might be surprised how much is up there. But the decision is yours of course as we're just responding to what we know of the situation.
I'm just waiting to hear whether I'm getting pumped or not....12 guys in our squad, 10 local & 2 contractors, one of whom has just been fired. The other one is me. A pretty normal situation for the game I'm in, especially at the moment the oil industry is down all over the world. The travelling guys, like me (I try not to say expat cos that has negative meanings IMO), are treat like lepers or a necessary evil, as soon as things get a bit tight we are the first to go
I've also sat in meetings where you get told there is months/years of work, then days later the same guy tells you: "er...sorry guys...". Basically cos they have no real idea about what work is coming, but want to sound positive until the death. The industry (and maybe other industries also) is ran by accountants now, not planners/technical people.
Good luck fella. If the worse comes to the worse, you never know what opportunities will arise & could end up with a better job...stranger things have happened

Love the car and think you would be a fool at the moment to part with her, yes she is probably worth £1500 to the right person but as i found out with mine when i tryed to sell her the right person can be very hard to find, but saying that i was glad the right person never came for mine in the end lol.

I've had £1450 stuck under my nose & I said no. The wife said I will regret it if I get a job next couple of weeks so I might aswel let it sit there. I'll be replacing the brakes this week but won't be stretching to ferrodo pads, can't justify the cost. Will try do a few of my little jobs this week & see how we go. Got a few possibles on going back to old employers & a possible with a new one so who knows? I will brush the street if I have to for a job, I'm not fussy. Mates Mrs is a manager at Iceland & she might have a driving job going just for now.
I know if I sell her I'll never get another one so until the fat lady sings she's sat all dirty on the car park. Could really do with hitting a bit of boost right now. Lol

Nice one Mrs Biff, the voice of reason! As above good luck fella

Sorry to hear of your woes.
As said, if you sell the car you won't have wheels, so you may as well declare it SORN. Then when you get a job you won't regret anything!
Post 762859 by Biff on 2015-03-08 09:42:24
The car is sorn, tax ran out end of feb so it's no bother. I've hardly used it lately so most of these jobs are in other towns/city's so hopefully I can get a bit of use out of it soon & not worry about clogging my engine up with mayo with short journeys.
Tomorrow should be a good day I'm hoping. :)
Thanks again lads, really couldn't see myself without a volvo now. ;)
