As the 240 is near completion I thought I`d get a few insurance quotes. Got one quote of £9570 :yikes: thats more than the cars worth. Got another one of £184, all mods declared, 3k miles a year and full comp. Just waiting for Adrain Flux to email me.

That's nothing, my 23yo friend only the other week got a quote of £35k for a MK4 Astra!!! Yes that's £35,000 to insure a £290 POS! ...he shopped elsewhere.
In the bad old days I got this as a quote from a company that is supposed to specialise in high performance and modified cars,"think of a number and double it". This was for a R33 Nissan Skyline 2.0 GT which they didn't have on their system. They actually said that they could quote for a GTiR cheaper.. I've never asked for another quote from them..

Try footman james they were great with my five on a classic policy and that inclues a modern and the mrs's driving with european breakdown and recovery all for £483 inc some other perks, pretty damn good I'd said and all they require is a voc membership no.
You wonder why they even bother giving the number when it's a crazy high figure, better to just say 'uncompetitive' and retain some dignity :lol: I did the usual gocompare type price comparison for my cover - picked AA Insurance and got my 850 T5 for under £200 with protected NCB, £100 excess and a years AA cover included, this was on an Essex/Suffolk border post code... It is also includes my 75 year old father which puts it up (I think). Although I am 40 years old with 20 years clean record.
