I'm well aware many of you are of that opinion already, but I now have evidence to back it up. As the weather's improving I thought I'd tackle the C70 again. Last year I changed the exhaust manifold and turbo on it, but when I put it all back together, there was a leak between the head and the exhaust manifold. I was pretty pissed off to say the least, assuming one of the exhaust gaskets had slipped whilst putting it back together, I parked it up for winter, and thought no more about it. So, to today, get it all stripped down, expecting half a gasket to be hanging below the manifold, but no, they're all in place and sealded nicely, it's only when I took them off that I discovered what I'd done.
3 out of the 5 were on upside down, so blocking half of the exhaust port, and leaking from the other half. So due to my lack of attention to detail I've had to spend the morning stripping it all down, hopefully it'll be up and running later this afternoon, and I'll be able to see what difference the 18t, Japanifold, and 3" DP with race cat have made, but at the end of the day, I'm still a dick. :slap:

Order the complete gasket.in one, makes the job much easier, and yes you are a dick.

At the time I ordered them I didn't know there was a one piece available, still no guarantee I wouldn't have put it on wrong. :(

Haha, don't worry about it dude. I've just bought wishbone bushes and balljoints ready for change to cure a knocking..... Which turned out to be a loose droplink I failed to check was tight!

I bought a new auxiliary belt tensioner for my V40, think it was about £80. Anyway I was all set to change it when I picked up the box & it fell out onto the floor :( Needless to say the new tensioner was in considerably poorer condition than the old one I had just removed. I still have a brand new tensioner with a wonky pulley!

It's took you that long to find out your a dick that makes you a double dick but maybe that's something to be proud of lol
Any way as it's not like me to go off topic ill get back onto the subject in hand if may spelling is bad so be it.
Tbh it's a easy thing to do and the one piece one does make it easier hopefully you should see a difference once back together.
And while I'm at it well done every body makes mistakes and it's nice to see some one who can admit it but I still think your a dick.
P.s. I like you really well until I get my intercooler and flange lol flange in one piece

You are lucky none of them broke and went through your exhaust turbine spinning at 100,000rpm!!

Just cut the part no off the one piece gasket to fit it.

I hardly ran it, when I started it up, and it sounded like a tractor, I just parked it up, and sulked.

I'm surprised you didn't do a James and blame it on the shop that supplied you the gaskets. But yes your still a dick and in my book that's worse than a tosser :dgrin:

I'm going to sue Volvo, they make it too easy to fit them upside down. ;) Oh, should I bleed the brakes now I've been fiddling with the turbo?

Yeah it's all back together, taken it for a gentle run, hopefully be building up to a full power run during the evenings this week.

Pleased to hear it. Took our C70 to Costco today, and filled the boot and back seat up with shopping. Plan to do more than 1,100 miles in her which I did in the last year, this coming year cos I really like to drive her.
