Question about S/V40 and V50 section

Just a question to the admin or mods in the forum. There is a subforum named "40/50 Series cars", which includes the 1996-2004 S40 and V40, the 2004-S40, V50 and I am guessing the 2012- V40. Considering that the 2004-S40 and the V50 share a lot more with the C30 and absolutely nothing with the -2004 S/V40, wouldn't it be better if they were actually put together with teh C30? I by no means try to correct you or critisize. I was wondering what was the thinking behind it. Thanks for your time

Good question, we'll have a look at this. Not sure on why the current grouping is the way it is, possibly more to do with the model number rather than the platform similarities, or possibly just not been updated inline with the newer models.

The 1996-2004 have hardly anything in common with any other volvos. They have a lot more in common with the Mitsubishi FTO, early evos and the carisma. What I am trying to say is that the VOC grouping is good in my opinion and was just wondering what was the reason behind VPCUKs grouping. I am new here, so I don't want to create any problems, just looking for ways to make it easier for everyone

We just haven't got around to changing them and then the filing of all the threads etc. (It's only been 3 years and 4 months, give us a chance :P) But it's right that the Mitsu based S40/V40 gets one section and the Ford based S40/V50/C30 and probably V40 get another section :-)

Fair point though don't want to be mixing Volvos & Fords :)...actually from what I remember of my Focus, the handling/chassis was pretty good

The later s40 isint as good as the older one James, it looks better and handles better, but the Mitsubishi/volvo one is far more reliable only really bad one and it's not that bad is the Mitsubishi gdi engined one, it cokes up and needs a good thrash once a week, it also has funny ways about it Druid has a gdi. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_S40 the diesel and the t4 are the better ones :), but the rest aren't bad the 1.6 is very sluggish but strong. The later classic s40's and v40's the phase 2 face lifted ones were pretty much sorted by volvo build quality was improved,as were engine componants, also they got a bigger floor pan :)

Now we do we can prioritise sorting those forums accordingly :)

I was happy with the way it is. But gatos had a good idea there santa :) , I think it's a brilliant forum as do the others :) I really like it here it's good to be able to laugh and talk about volvo's all at the same time.

Also, one more question for you. I have about 12 How To guides at the moment, but a couple of them need a couple of changes. I was going to post them all in one go, but wasn't sure how long I have to edit them. At VOC forum, I had a 2 hour window and that was it. If I needed to make any changes, I had to quote the whole guide with the changes, so they could just copy and paste it. What is the score here?
Currently posting in the how to section is just the same as posting a thread, and you can edit your posts. Does that make any sense or am I missing the point?
he meant how long does he have to edit posts, before the 'edit' button disappears.
he meant how long does he have to edit posts, before the 'edit' button disappears.
Ah, ok well it doesn't as far as I know. You should be able to edit for a while at least.
Currently posting in the how to section is just the same as posting a thread, and you can edit your posts. Does that make any sense or am I missing the point?
What I meant, was that previously, I only had a 2 hour window to edit a post. After that, I could not. Only admin could do it. So for example, if 6 months down the line I realised that I missed something, or made an error in my original guide, I could not edit it myself, but had to submit it to the mods to do for me. That is what I meant.

I've just bought a 2011 C30. New to the forum. Can't find a specific place to look, ask, post. Mind you that may just be incompetence on my part.
