Apologies, I know there's plenty about these units! I've searched the forum but can't seem to find the following answers. My unit has sound issues, after doing the recommended checks for the amp etc, it appears the unit is fubarred. 1. Can I replace my hu850 unit with the hu803? I have the s60 d5 55 plate (facelift) 2. I'm on a small budget, if I fit an aftermarket, I can live with losing some of the controls on the steering wheel but what about my pop up sat nav? Would it still work from the remote? 3. If anyone has a hu850 with cd player issues, I'll have it!

FWIW (late I know) i don't think you'll be able to do it for two reasons: 1. The HU850 is the facelift version of the HU803 and the surrounding trim may not fit as the HU803 is fitted to pre facelift cars. 2. The RTI unit in the boot is basically the ECU for the stereo. It IS the Control module for the entire SAT NAV and headunit/steering wheel controls. If the HU850 is not compatible with the RTI unit, then the steering wheel controls will not work and the RTI screen will only raise/lower using the hand held remote, nor will they work the functions on the screen. The only solution really is a new/second hand or Refurbished HU850 from the dealer. Not cheap, I know, but better than losing all the functionality with the RTI/SAT NAV!

http://m.ebay.com/itm/281659280414 Ok this won't fit the face lift cars due to the aluminium trim..
