I'm so wound up. We've had friends round for a barbecue this evening and afterwards, my 12 year old and the friends 12 year old went over to the park on my sons bmx and mountain bike. This was about 8.30 ish. I get phone call from my son just before 9 in floods of tears saying a group of pikies came over to them, pushed him off his bike and cycled off on it. His mate who was on my sons other bike, the bmx, a younger pikie about 10 tried to grab the bmx, but as the boys were shouting, a man walking his dog started shouting and then younger pikie ran off. I'm pissed that they made off with my sons mountain bike, but really upset how upsetting this has been for my son. He was shaking when we got to him. I'm really worried he will be scared to go out in the evening again. Had the police round for over an hour taking a statement from the boys, but they didn't leave us holding out much hope of getting the bike back. My son said the boy who took his bike was around 17 years old, the spineless little git.

sorry to here this mike, hope the plod get them for this and your lad can possibly get passed this ok, it is infuriating how these little gits think it's ok to steal other kids stuff, with no regard what so ever, to how it leaves the victim feeling.

I hope your kid is ok Mikey, it is a horrible thing to happen to him .it dents their confidence With a bit of luck plod will get a result . This kind of stuff is so infuriating and you can do. Very little about it , even if they get them they don't get any real punishment.

sorry to hear that & must be frustrating as a dad not to be able to 'fix' the situation for the bairn best you can do is teach how to deal with it next time (& sometimes the best outcome is to give the scum what they want - to avoid anyone getting hurt)

We were meant to be going to a car show today, but he's not up for it now. luckily he managed to keep hold of his bmx, so he still has a bike to get to school on, but the mountain bike was his first proper grown up bike. Long winded, but basically behind our house, 1 minute walk, it backs onto playing field with football pitches, pavilion, Childs play park and just beyond that a newly built skate park where all the local lads use there scooters, bmx' etc. This bunch of lads, age between 10 and 17 and about 7 of them in total according to my lad and his mate, said they came from the other side of the skate park via the trees/forest area. a mile or so from that area is a permanent site for static caravans that is rented out to gypsies. It's been there for 15 or so years. I suggested to the police last night, " that's sound like it might be worth having a quick drive round the sight, if the lads came from that direction" His answer was, We will have a look round in the next couple of days as part of our investigation. I thought, what!!!!!! Wouldn't it better to go asap as they probably would still be hanging about. Common sense, but obviously I'm wrong.

He's a smashing lad, and tall and well built for his age, but he's not the aggressive type. As we were having a barbecue, everyone was having a great time and for a laugh the boys got into a couple on onesies. So you had two 12 year olds on bikes in a Minion and Gorillia Onesies. These gutless scumbags picking on young kids makes my blood boil. One of the scum looked about 17 according to my lad. So hard when there in a group.

What a bunch of tossers Mike, is it a small place you live in? Would your son recognise they yobs if he seen them again?

how do you it was the Gypsies? Not all travellers are crooks or candidates for parts in Snatch . Skate parks are very territorial by nature and any young kid trying to build a rep could be part of this. Whoever done it is a scumbag for sure but generally if its a static site they don't really want the rep of thieves especially if its a decentish area I have been there with lowlifes with my son, I dealt with it and it wont happen again, you should go out looking instead of relying on Police as this wont be high on their list as no injury occurred. Sad but true My son took a dent at 13 from 2 nineteen year olds in a car who thought they were the boys, you have to get him out and about and confront that barrier by letting him see confidence in you as you are his idol/ role model and make sure he sees more good than bad . My son initially thought staying in was the answer ....I got him out next day used whatever I could to entice him and the next Friday night got him out to a youth club again , he went himself and I walked round with dog to see him home , a couple of weeks with no incident worked , OK he might think its because I was there but nothing happened and he 'forgot' about it and all returned to normal. Every dad is different in their approach and no one knows their son like each dad does but encourage him out to different places and it will soon just become a ' remember when I got my bike taken etc....' story and not a life barrier.

We have loads of tinkers around Wrexham, some are actually ok & good lads to have around as they keep the bad eggs in line. They have been here that long they live in houses now so have spread across the town. The police are absolutely useless & are scared of "rocking the boat" & being accused of victimising the pikeys. I doubt you'll see it again, it will already be sold or being sprayed with rattle cans. They might act it but paddy & Murphy aren't stupid.

Sorry to hear that mate, it's a horrible thing to go through at that age. We had a group of pavees move onto a car park round the corner from my workplace, so we had them coming in wanting showers (I work in a leisure centre). Most of the adults are polite and friendly but the children are the nastiest little things in the world, spiteful, arrogant and foul mouthed they just take what they want.

££££s! Not a recommendation obviously but IMO Mr Banana is talking sense.

Sorry to hear about that Mike. At least the boys weren't physically hurt. :(

[QUOTE=volvokid;775244]What a bunch of tossers Mike, is it a small place you live in? We have a lot of friends as we have lived here for 12 years and some friends have lived here all there lives so they know a lot of people. Friends posted it up on the local website with a description of the lads and images of the bike. We had a few phone calls from people saying they may of seen the bike in the next village earlier today. [QUOTE=The Flying Banana;775245]how do you it was the Gypsies? We know the owner of the land who rents the land out and he went round this morning for us, but didn't see anything. In all the years they have been there, he has only been called in twice and that was to do with noise complaints, nothing else. My son had a nice lye in this morning, came out with us for lunch and then spent the afternoon over at the skate park with his mates, so Im really releaved he's already getting on with things. He was a bit quiet this evening, and when I asked why, he said he thought it was his fault he lost a £250 bike and didn't have enough money to buy a replacement. I gave him a big hug and said it was no way his fault. Your right about the Police, they seem more interested in not rocking the boat with the local fixed site. They spent an hour last night taking details, when in my opinion, that time could of been spent looking round the local area. I had a couple of friends do that for me, but they couldn't see anything.

So there is a very good chance your son will see him again! When I was younger 2 older lads ripped my speedo of my bike and through it into long grass, I never found it. I stayed in a small town so I found out where they stayed fairly easily, I have an even older brother ;)
