Looks like a lovely bit of kit :)

BMW spec hose clamps pmsl. You might as well just bought a cone filter for what that "heat shields" going to do

I do my homework first and don't buy and fit performance products if they don't improve things

It does look nice, might benefit from some cold air ducting?
3k FFS crazy money. I'm trying to make an air intake & inlet manifold from ebay scraps of aluminium (for my R5), budget is about 50 quid plus the welding.

That looks like a nice piece of kit but still £680!
Still, it looks great in the engine bay and sounds awesome from them videos on their site ;)

Kit comes with a carbon fibre scoop which connects to the fog lamp housing in the front bumper. A lot of research was done before the kit was released for sale.
From the people who designed the setup. These guys worked in the aviation design industry so know there stuff.
Many of you are now using and benefiting from the Eventuri intake in your cars. Understandably there are many who still look at the intake and assume it's the same as other systems out there (K&N, Gruppe M, etc. etc.). So here is a brief explanation of the unique design of the Eventuri intake and how it improves the power, response and delivery.........
So what's so "special" about this intake - after all it's just another cone filter and a heat shield right???
Allow me to explain:
Most aftermarket intakes use a cone filter mated to the MAF tube and have some sort of heat shield surrounding the cone. In this configuration - the airflow has to negotiate a path from the large diameter at the base of the filter through to the smaller diameter of the MAF tube in a relatively short distance. usually there is a velocity stack at the base of the filter to help the airflow. This is not great for aerodynamic efficiency as you will get dead spots and some turbulent effects.
The Eventuri is a new type of intake design which is patent pending and this is why: We use a cone filter - BUT here it is inverted and decoupled from the MAF tube. The filter is now mated to the front of the carbon housing and by inverting it we are capturing maximum surface area for incoming airflow. Now, the carbon housing is not merely a heat shield - it shapes the flow smoothly down to the MAF tube over the entire distance of the housing. This means that we keep laminar conditions through the path into the MAF tube which is a lot more efficient. Basically the ENTIRE housing acts as a velocity stack. On the road - this translates not only to more power but smoother delivery and a sharper throttle response.

Well you've got to get extra air in there some how as you don't have a turbo.
Looks well made, I guess you've already dyno'd? So be a good way to tell afterwards and the graphs shape etc.

As I mentioned, power increase is only about 10bhp. It's more the way the car responds and sounds like that really impressed me. The engine feels so more responsive and no hesitancy. The car I went in was totally standard as is mine.

So for £680 you could gain 10 bhp !!!!!
The words money and sense spring to mind.

Well as Mike has explained there is more to it than just bigger figures.
I've spent many thousands of ££ on my car and added 0bhp ;)

As I've said TWICE now, it's how the kit transforms the power delivery, the linear delivery when you plant the throttle and the noise it makes. It's not all about bhp. Who said I paid £680 for it?

You can tell at a glance that's a high quality item, it looks top drawer imho!
Years ago my mate spent a small fortune on a Mugen equivalent for his NSX, and whereas it didn't create an extra 30bhp, it sounded awesome at 8000rpm and made the throttle razor sharp from all revs, worth every penny.

Couldn't agree more. I couldn't believe how better the car responded. People get to hung up on bhp figures.

Looks the business, a quality made product. I'd be interested to hear it in action and see the finished product. :)
Money's money, best spent on passion and no matter what you can't take it to the grave and I'll be dammed if I'm working hard all my life for kids to spend it once I've gone!!

Interested to get your opinion once it's fitted mate. I've been toying with getting one if these since evolve started doing them. Not going for a remap as well?

It costs alot just to get any of these old volvos up to a standard spec, then it's just fettling until your happy.
I know how it cost to sort the gul, olive 855r and sonic, that's why I'll be selling zero of my 4 Volvos, I'll only end up with another that needs tons doing.
The sonic had a full main dealer history and actually no rubber left in the lower engine mount or fuel filter change.

Looks like a nice piece of kit! With a car like that you can't fit cheap #### to it! I'd rather see something like this than an Ebay filter with a bit of tumble drier extractor hose to the front bumper!

Chris, there's a New Forest drive this Sunday. Guys from Poole, Bournemouth and Southampton are all meeting at the Macdonalds at Picket Post for 5pm. One of the guys has the Evolve kit fitted.
As for the remap, the deal they are doing is £1000 for filter, remap and before and after Dino runs, but I'm going on holiday in a couple of weeks so need to keep the wife happy lol.

The two Volvos I had were very cheap even after all the mods I'd done to them compared to how much the M costs just to maintain to a standard spec lol.
I remember fitting a vehicle specific k&n induction kit to the t5r and the results were terrible, loss of power was noticeable. The kit I'm getting for the M is the only one to be proven to improve the car in all areas. All the other brands like k&n are known to hamper the performance.

I am skeptical about the supposed power increase. You may say its only about 10 bhp (14 according to the graph), but just think about the CSL. That has around 355bhp, and has quite a few differences over the standard engine, yet by simply fitting that filter it will gain you almost as much.

It's not just your usual filter though. These retail at £680 so you know it's something special. I wouldn't buy it if I wasn't 100% convinced by the claims.
Yes, they give around the same increase. Evolve do there own csl carbon induction system, but for that along with the remap and tune you have to have its around £3000. Obviously it's a totally different looking setup and also sounds amazing, but Evolve realize most people won't want to spend £3000, myself included. The filter I'm getting is already on back order with them as they can't keep up with demand.

I know its not your usual filter, but what i'm saying is that given the "upgrades" the CSL's engine has over the standard car, i doubt that just by fitting an air filter your going to have almost the same power.

Various Dyno tests on cars having had the filter fitted.
332 bhp standard, 345 with the filter and 362 with filter and remap.
362 is not shabby at all.
Filter and remap is £1000 for 362bhp and a standard CSL is 355 bhp. Not surprising Evolve can't keep up with demand for there new kit. As I've said before I'm more interested in how the cars drive improves and the NOISE lol. Later in the year I'll probably get it mapped as well though lol.
Work done to the CSL engine
Power: 360BHp (265kW) @ 7900 rpm
Torque: 370N-m (274 lb-ft) @ 4900 rpm
Engine modifications included: High flow carbon air intake, modified valve and camshaft timing, retuned DME (Digital Motor Electronics)
Weight reduction modifications included: lightweight exhaust manifold, thinner exhaust piping, carbon fibre reinforced plastic body pieces, carbon fibre reinforced plastic roof, lightweight wheels
So you can see Evolve have done an amazing job for a £680 filter when if you fitted a csl full carbon induction system which also needs a remap and these two come in at £3000.
Csl system does look amazing and sound fantastic though.

So you understand why i doubt their claimed 353bhp figures?
Also, i did forget that they started from a claimed 339bhp for a standard car, when most e46 M3's are around 330bhp.
