Well you've heard of a project thread, but this is a Thread of Projects.....I'm trying to get myself organised here - cars & bike with the love story smiley next to them are to be saved & one with the bog smiley are to be binned. R5 T2 :lovestory [ATTACH=CONFIG]29369[/ATTACH] Name: Bougie Status: Good nick, bottoms of doors getting a bit rusty, but has an MOT! Plan: Sort out the MFI with fuel distributor rebuild & new warm up regulator (long term plan to go EFI, loom currently being made by EFI-parts, T03/T04 hybrid turbo waiting patiently to go on..lag to be measured in days). Attempt paint repair myself & get a proper wash done...the car not me. I've heard it's called 'detailing'. NC35 (RVF 400 RT) :lovestory Name: Hasn't got one. Status: Pretty good condition, some small cracks to fairing. Gayer-than-Erasur paint job. Plan: Plastic welding..? Save up for some Chinese knock off farings in original Honda paint scheme or Konica Minolta replica. 480 Turbo :lovestory [ATTACH=CONFIG]29371[/ATTACH] Name: Pollution Status: 600 quid car 4 years ago but not so bad, no major rust. Some bits missing....where did I put that engine.... Plan: Engine from 440. Lie awake at night worrying if fettled ECU will work with 440 loom. Fancy carbon front splitter to go on to stop the existing wafer thin one flapping around like a chubby streaker at a sporting event. S70 R :lovestory Name: The Pork Chop Express Status: Good condition, indestructable daily - happy to rev into the red all day long....when warm and when my incredibly long driveway allows, obviously. Vibration under braking brakes may be just pads giving up. Plan: MOT required in Nov, change pads/maybe discs. Nitrous kit to go on - take to Bruntingthorpe, open up & hold fast while the pretendy LSD disintegrates. V40 T4 :bog: [ATTACH=CONFIG]29373[/ATTACH] Name: Hasn't got one Status: Reasonable nick, phase 1 so 1855 cc, was planned to be donor for 480 but didn't get around to it. Needs some work on suspension. Plan: Have a look at suspension & make a decision - break or sell on. Would love to stick the engine in the 480 but just sooo much effort for 100-odd cc's extra. And 8 more valves. And a cross flow head. And a manual box.... 440 Turbo :bog: [ATTACH=CONFIG]29372[/ATTACH] Name: Manuel Status: Crusty but surprisingly MOT'd (only a couple of months remaining) Plan: Break to allow the 480 to live again! Clio :bog: [ATTACH=CONFIG]29370[/ATTACH] Name: Will.I.Am Status: 5GT engine inside. Dash has been bodged so speedo doesn't work unless the tripmeter button is pressed. Plan: Sell. Will.I.Was

There's only ever 1/max 2 roadworthy at any one time though, not all are taxed & ticketed.

PCV is being renewed again this weekend and lots of service items replaced. Plans: Considering having the bodywork repaired as a long term plan and in the short term just to carry on servicing and driving it.

Volvo 960 CD :bog: Name: Tucker. Status: Converted from 2.5 24v to 2.4 straight 6 turbo diesel. At the roadside. Fuel and boost turned up, smoky sideways machine when it ran properly. Just sold actually, as I needed a relliable workhorse. Plans: None, apart from continue to answer the buyer's endless questions. 850TDi :lovestory Name: Güstav Status: VAG engined derv workhorse. The rusty rear arches came for free. Plans: Repair panels to be welded in the rear arches/painted. Lower it slightly, different wheels, boot spoiler, possible auto conversion. Generally tidy it up. There we go. Aaaaand breath!!

I have a standard saab & golf diesel.:( I'll go sit in the corner & cry at all you lucky people with cracking projects. Hoping to return in something turbo charged & 5 cylinder at some point. Might even buy the fakeR back if I can prize it out of the new owners mitts. Bad times.

It looks ok in pictures and from a few feet but get up close and its easy to see lacquer peel and chips. It probably won't be sorted until we stop doing "lengthly" trips though.

When the oil price goes up I would expect all car prices to go down as they become more expensive to run. How much that affects the classic prices is being pondered over by greater minds than mine, no doubt!

Well our economy is picking up and theres got to be an interest rate hike on the cards as its been down for so long? Values of the Classics ive got dont bother me as i bought them because i wanted them but if anyone is thinking of moving something on now might be the best time (IMO)

Update time. Capri: Update: Going up for sale :( 960: Update: Moved on to pastures new now :( 850TDi Update: Still the hard as nails workhorse, hit 300k and lunched an alternator. Oh well. Desperate for new oil, also loooong overdue full set of belts and pulleys. Needs a few hundred quid throwing at it to see me through the winter. Hopefully this will be next up for some spannering. S70 T5. Update: Ran it at York, while mightily hungover and it didn't go bang, managed to wring a 15.1 out of it. New plugs, leads, rotor arm and dizzy cap to go on, chasing occasional misfire on boost. Will fettle with the cam timing next. S80 T6. Update: Still the old man's daily, still begging to be mapped. Long overdue a major service, needs codes reading to find out why it's menstrual. 460 CD Turbo. Update: Sat on axle stands while I whip the 'box out to drop into the other 460. Starting to give serious thought to dropping a T4 lump into this. 480: Update: Still sat, waiting for me to have the heart to start pulling it to bits :( 460 2.0 CD: Update: Seems to be staying, now has a name - Don Leno. Found the old cheapo eggcrate grille from the S70, so will butcher that and make it fit at some point. Sat outside my house now awaiting an auto transplant from Ray the 460T, being used as a beater when any of the others are out of action.

Now collecting parts for manual swap, including a flywheel from an F4R Clio S70R Update: took it for a run out to Scarborough, to scrub the new Falkens in. 205-width looks skinny no? Ready for the winter at least RX-7 Update: APEXI ECU & HKS de/pre/whatever-cat to go on, trying to keep it cool. Everybody be cool. Japanese domestic market 112 mph limit still in place then. KE100 Update: nothing doing this month. Rattling but still rolling. Got myself some bedtime reading - a Haynes manual

Lol, speedo not been converted then?! Crazy how fast they go up! My Pajero had a resistor fitted in the signal line to convert to mph, don't know if the Mazda speedo is electric though?

Then I can just blank out the 'k' leaving m/h The FC ('86-'91) was cable I think but AFAIK the FD is electronic. You can also display the speed on the attachment that comes with the APEXI ECU - the Power FC Commander. Sounds like some kind of heavy duty sex toy but looks like a 1980's mobile phone... "Hello? Lol!! Cool bit of kit, that. I'd leave the speedo alone then, it's hilarious how fast they move when still in kmh! :D Surprised it's not been converted though, they usually have to be when imported.

Time for the (now) bi-monthly update. Well, I'm bi-polar, so I guess it fits. Capri - Marvin: Update: Had a fella seemingly interested in buying it, dropped off the face of the earth. Will start to advertise it after Christmas. It's time :( No new pics, so here's a really old one! 850TDi - Güstav: Update: Still haulin' ass! Had a full oil/belts service, I somehow managed to fluke the timing so it'll run. Martin Smith has generously offered to time it properly at some point, along with maybe supply me with some other goodies :) Fairly sure I've got a sticking injector or two, plenty of diesel knock. Lovely. Bonnet flipped up while joining the motorway at 70 the other day, which was nice. Now need new bonnet and hinges. Just had a new battery also. These Dervs don't like the cold. S70 T5 - The Black Shark. Update: Serving as wifey's daily ferrying the bairn around, until Christmas day anyway, more on that later. Managed to bag a 3" throttle body and machined manifold along with an ITG filter and shroud, oh and a poly top mount from a breaking 850, so they'll get fitted at some point - as well as all the stuff I've not done from last time. Also, it appears I need a sidelight bulb. Almost forgot - she's also kiffed one of my fake Pegs "apparently" avoiding a kid pushed out in front of her. I tried to make her see the extra points for kids, but I still got tears for asking how the car was before her. Women, huh? S80 T6 - Kitt: Update: Still the old man's daily, still begging to be mapped. Still long overdue a major service and being plugged in to find out why it has PMS. My Dad, being a retired bus driver, has stuffed it yet again. People that know me better will remember how he somehow managed to smash two wheels a while ago (that's smash, not scuff or ding) well he's now scraped all down the near side on something. When I asked what happened, he helpfully replied "It happened." Well, I'm not going to bother servicing it now. Honestly couldn't care less about it any more. If he cares so little about someone else's (my) car, he can return to the busses when the cam belt enevitably lets go. Rant over. 460 CD Turbo - Ray-le-Otter: Update: Amassing a big assed pile of bits and bobs to fit on the 12th of never. Decided I will manual convert it, just not yet. Auto 'box nearly back in... For now. 480 - Nipper: Update: Sadly, moving onto pastures new this coming weekend :( I didn't have the heart to break it myself and tried to donate it to the 480 forum's mod to break with the proceeds to go to the forum's running costs, but it was a logistical nightmare as he's in Glasgow. Eventually, after offering it to a few people, it's found a new home. A fella on VOC and 480 club never quite got over the loss of his, so I gave it him. I thought best to give it away to someone that will appreciate it, than sling it on ebay for buttons for it to be broken anyway. An ethos shared by at least one fella I know. I'll be gutted when it goes, but I needed the space. See towards the end of this post. 460 2.0 CD - new nickname - The Age of Aquarius Update: Hit 55,555 miles at 55mph - who knew? Celebrated by turning itself into an aquarium in the recent rain. Seriously bad, jumped in to go somewhere and the footwells were nearly 2" deep. Feet instantly soaked. Made a hilarious sloshing though when driving! Anyway, I've decided to break it. Shame really, being such low mileage, but the rot is going to be uneconomical to repair, as I don't think Craig (Tomcat) is keen on doing the arches. (Speaking of which, have you done my bloody spoiler yet, Craig?') I'm going to hopefully be keeping all the goodies from this to go into the 460T - leather, A/C, etc. And now the big reveal... Most will know anyway, lol C70 convertible - Sloan Kettering: Update: Well, I've bought the missus a ragtop for christmas. That's about all! It'll be her daily after Christmas. Cost me a few quid, but well specced with GT pack so dolby stereo, etc, even parking sensors. 2.4T auto, so 193bhp I think. Had a price off Don on an MTE map, but we'll see. Scuttle shake on rough tarmac is epic, strut brace has been ordered :lol: That's about it for now. See you all next year :)
