yep on the M4 near Bristol I had just filled up with petrol got back on the road and a skip lorry was in front overloaded with no net, loads of scrap metal! I went to overtake but a car was passing and I saw a huge piece of RSJ falling off bouncing along the road heading for my face all I could do was brake so it went under the car knocked off the sump, and a few con rods - smashed the underside to bits and punctured the fuel tank . So the engine just quit as most of the con rods were gone, left a trail of oil and petrol but managed to get onto the shoulder and phone the the Bill. The car was literally a heap of smoking steaming scrap! The skip lorry was so filthy I only got a partial plate so I got stuck with a FAULT ACCIDENT plus lost my car :( Cant work out how insurance companies can be so unfair and crap to blame ME with getting my car trashed?? Compared to my new P2 estate that car never let me down, all I did was replace the radiator and serviced her regularly bought it in Poole with 97k on and when she was binned I had over 190k. Superb tow car would pull anything.

Bad times, Fella! Insurance is just legalised robbery, they will do whatever it takes to screw whatever they can out of us. I bet the police were most helpful too - you know, pulling stuff from all the millions of cctv cameras on the motorways, etc?

yep too right Bill told me the were 'too busy' to go through all the files to find the lorry -EVEN THOUGH I told them it was a moving violation and an unsecured load???? wish I had kept her wheels they were MINT!! :(

There's also the option of getting fully comp with a fixed rate of 3% of your car's value....I will be going for 3rd party only for exactly the reason you mention - if & when you have a bump there'll be no chance of anyone paying out anyway

Post 782414 by S40kieran on 2015-08-19 17:23:46

Does 3rd party still exist jamesy it used to be alot cheaper but it cost more than fully comp so people opt for fully comp. I've had it with the bandits the hire cars I've had have cost them 2 thousand pound I don't get it could've repaired my car and then some, they like these a holes in suits in clipboards so called engineers that pick up every scratch and ding 12 year old cars will have which is what i argued lol. But looking at cat c's this morning and you have 14 and 15 plate beemers and even a tidy golf on 11 plate all written off just needing a bumper or headlight in cases. What is going on lol money is being made somewhere My clean 12 year old s40 doesn't stand a chance so I've took the £600 and I've added to it and fixed my own car. Just to have done
