Hi everybody,
Just introducing myself. I'm Pete, from Middlesbrough.
I've just acquired my first Volvo, a 2000 V70 estate, 2.4 auto, which I'll be picking up on Saturday. It needs a bit of work, the dash is lit up like a christmas tree, but it's in otherwise very good condition and was cheap :)
I'll look forward to chatting to you all

When ever somebody says "Hi everybody"
It always makes me think of the line
"Hi doctor Nick"

Welcome along.
2000 V70...
Dash lit up...
Chances are, you need the speedo repaired.
Good car when they're working tho.

thanks for the welcome everybody. I picked the car up today and all seems well other than the lights on the dash.
m-r-p, Can I presume from your prognosis that the speedo is a common problem? I have abs, traction control, engine management, the exclamation in a triangle, and a warning that the brakes have failed. When I stopped for fuel on the way home and restarted the car, all of the brake associated lights had gone out, and the brake failure warning had been replaced with a message that I needed an abs brake service. A couple of miles down the road and they all came back on though

You might be lucky - it may just be the abs unit playing up.
Yes, the speedo is a common failure in the older models but in this case, it sounds OK.

Abs light going on and off could just be cracked sensor rings, I have had it twice on my T 5.
They cost about two bob and are an easy fix. Worth checking them .
