Morning fellow volvo petrolheads, As of Saturday just gone, i am now a owner of a Silver 1999 Volvo C70 T5 Manual GT. I was looking at a lot of cars but decided on this after doing a lot of research on a few forums it deffo the right decision for me. Nice Tuning potential and nice and reliable. A nice little extra is the number plate ends in GT Few Things need doing from the off, nothing major mechnically so quite pleased there, what i have noticed from driving it home from blackpool. As you lot have a wealth of experience in volvos, could you advise on if its best to get pattern parts or genuine volvo bits: - Front Drivers side Wheel bearing - Front Brakes spongey (Probably change discs and pads) (i heard volvo items are best for this) - When i get to just over 60mph the is a loud gunshot sound in the left door, this only happens once while car is on, im assuming its a SIPS thing? - Another annoying thing is that when driving along, randomly, all the lights pretyy much on the bottom right side of the dash light up, speedo stops working, and then it will come back on, like the car thinks the keys are out the ignition. - A few other things that i will get done as well I will endeavour to get a full service, probably a cambelt and waterpump change as well. Thanks Jordan

Hello & :welcome: fella Just some thoughts... Wheel bearing personally I would get a Volvo part as you may only do this once during your ownership spongy brakes might be caused by old fluid or hoses needing replacing to the calipers, if the pads & discs are in good nick I didn't bother replacing my water pump when the timing belt was done, it seemed fine & still is Gunshot noise is a strange one. Is it somethng to do with seals around the window?? Speedo unit might be dodgy? Never had that fault myself

Welcome to the forum, well done on a great choice of car, though obviously a gold one would have been better. ;) Is there any play in the bearing, if it's just noisy, don't assume it's the one where the noise is coming from, that has gone, I did that on mine, and it turned out it was the other one. :slap: I got my bearing kits (comes as complete hub, not just the bearing) from Parts for Volvo. Are you in/from the Gower? It's a lovely part of the world.

Hi, I will be borrowing a friends diagnostic tool to get some readings for the errors, see whats up with them, And will drop the car to my local garage to give the car a good once over. - Speedo thing, i hope it maybe something that the diagnostics will pick up - Not in gower, my last name is gower! I will be tuning the car in all aspects over the next few years of ownership, looking quite in depth on this forum theres a lot of knowledge. Realistically after the car is sorted with all these naggy things, I am wanting to achieve a good 350hbp (or thereabouts) on standard engine internals. After reading up it looks like the rods will die if pushed up to 400bhp limit. =

TBH you won't get much over 300 bhp on standard internals, it does however depend on the map, if the boost comes in too early, you can bend the rods quite easily.

300 to 320 i think i will be happy. Drivable, reliable (hopefully) if i decide at a later date to go all crazy on it i will go 400bhp plus.

Welcome your 60 woosh sounds like the top of the windows sucking out. You should tighten the door latch (move it in slightly).
