Heya folks, I bought my first Volvo a few months back, an 855R, which is on my list of cars to own (BTCC fan, then and now). Auto, 147k, 10 previous owners, and a colour combo I wanted. I'd seen it advertised for a while locally, but thought it a bit pricey until a friend convinced me I should buy it now, as they are on the rise: Image I wanted to post some better pic's in a nice location for my introduction, but I've not been able to find a reasonable insurance deal, so I haven't driven it yet, so just been sorting out some of it's obvious issues. I've done the cambelt kit and waterpump, new pcv system, fixed the dry joints on the abs module, new handbrake cable, scrubbed the wet dog smell out of the interior, machine polished, poorboys black hole and sealant wax on the body, amongst other stuff. Still loads to do  My other 20v 5 pot engined car: Image The ongoing sleeper/trackday 1.8T into 80 quattro project: Image and my daily 80 2.6 auto: Image You may have noticed an Audi theme, well that's come to an end. Compared to the Audis, whilst working on the 850, I haven't called it a ££££ing ££££££d c££ting piece of ££££ car, at all.... so far :D Bacon, dry toast, no sauce :B_thumb:

Welcome along. :) There's a few of us in and around Manchester now. Lovely looking 850R, those Audis are pretty awesome too. Don't remember the last time I saw a 90! Me, I have fleet insurance that might work for you. You need a minimum of three cars to qualify, but google "Clegg Gifford Family Fleet" and give them a try.

Cheers for the welcomes and insurance info :) No brokers would quote me on a classic policy, using the 20 year rule as the reason. The V5 states it was manufactured in 97, so I've another year and a bit to wait. I tried Adrian Flux, but they were nowhere near the £350 that M-R-P paid. I paid £162 last time for the 90 20V and the 80 2.6 on a multicar classic policy with all the extras and unlimited mileage, so I cannot see any justification for quotes that are 5 to 6 times more for the Volvo with limited to 5k miles a year, no extras and 16+ years no claims bonus  I had a mess about with the modifications using moneysupermarket, and found that removing the strutbrace and grooved disks, more than halved the quoted prices, so I could save some cash by making the car less safe
