Looks tidy though TT
Shame he didn't say why its badged as an 870?
oh yeah it was tidy alright spotless clean :) wearing comets with gold calipers and 850r front bumper... i think he said it started as a 2.0 se but i couldnt quite hear and he wasnt interested in coersing with a stranger at the pumps so i left him to it
Awesome :) Love that lower valance on the rear bumper, nice addition to an 850's arse. The plate is pretty cool also
Awesome :) Love that lower valance on the rear bumper
its an xc70 rear bumper ;)
not often will you see 2 cars wearing xc70 bumpers, behind each other a the pumps at tesco's
not often will you see 2 cars wearing xc70 bumpers, behind each other a the pumps at tesco's
id actually just filled up and was leavin there when i saw him head in so i went back around giddy at the prospect of a warm response, at least his mrs smiled at me when i put my head to him window for a nosy
I once saw a p2 V70 R at Doncaster services when I had my Laser, pulled along side him and he hardly even raised a smile. Turned out to be one of the top bods on T5D5.....
The was/is a user on here called 870R. I'm sure I saw a thread years ago about his car and the bit he changed over in it. I think he put the entire v70 interior in (dash and all) hence the 870 bit
All the performance Volvo owners around here are tossers. I've lost count how many times I've walked away thinking what a £££££ for being arrogant when I've tried speaking to them.

Most of the time the reaction is non existent, but sometimes you get someone the same as you.
Its funny that you both say this, I find exactly the same thing , I have been blanked a few times by people with Volvos that are obviously their obsession, but they just clam up when you speak to them, I kind of expect there to be a brotherhood of Volvo nutters, but there isnt, other than on here.
Volvo Nutters would be a good forum name.............
Nice to get a 'spotted' post with a photie!! well done sir
Its a shame when you see someone with a rare/performance volvo and they've got no interest in talking. From experience of being in "M" cars, its usually the opposite.
Its a shame when you see someone with a rare/performance volvo and they've got no interest in talking. From experience of being in "M" cars, its usually the opposite.
Not just talking but any kind of acknowledgement when driving past them would be a start.............
I get a few waves whilst driving the Alfa and have been spotted a few times. There's a lot more of them around as well...............
Not just talking but any kind of acknowledgement when driving past them would be a start.............
Its not as though i see any performance volvos in Leicester anyway, which considering i drive a decent amount of miles everyweek, says a lot.
Its not as though i see any performance volvos in Leicester anyway, which considering i drive a decent amount of miles everyweek, says a lot.
I tend to see performance Volvos when I'm in the Alfa, and one was in Markfield near you. But as soon as I drive one of my Volvos, I see no other performance Volvos...............
Its not as though i see any performance volvos in Leicester anyway, which considering i drive a decent amount of miles everyweek, says a lot.
Im the same there isnt any older volvo nuts in notts when i see any kind of 850 its a special moment round here lol
Im the same there isnt any older volvo nuts in notts when i see any kind of 850 its a special moment round here lol
I thought that Nottingham had a huge following of performance Volvo drivers as there seems to be regular newcomers from there on here.
In fact, when i did have proper volvos (i.e one with more than 180bhp), i got more attention from owners of other makes than from volvo drivers.
We have 3 guls, 2 855's & an 854, a red 855r, 3 v70r's various t5's in different guises. All modified. A standard black 855r also knocking about. The only blokes I found interested were bikers & traffic cops.
Traffic cops after they caught you? Lol
No mate I've not been stopped for years. They couldn't catch me. ;)
I've been wondering about what traffic cops say to ex-police car drivers when caught speeding. Martin etc. what do they say?
No mate I've not been stopped for years. They couldn't catch me. ;)
Not been stopped since my S59 was given to me back in Feb, but I may just have tempted fate.............
I've been wondering about what traffic cops say to ex-police car drivers when caught speeding. Martin etc. what do they say?
I've never been stopped but a few plod have said they've done their driver training in one. All the ex plod owners I see on the roads look like they've just been mugged. Honestly, they must be the saddest looking drivers out there. Can't imagine why they'd completely blank me, or worse, look at me in a frightened panic, when they do lift their head up long enough to see me.
i do try to always wave/acknowledge all older volvo's i past but none ever give any kinda curtesy back so ive taken to now thumbing any older car on the road :D i have been passing an older gent in a black 55 reg V70R with orange interior and flashing and waving but he just looks at me confused... i dunno if its cause mine doesnt quite resemble a familiar volvo from the front for the couple of seconds they get... :) i did have a black S70R on my daily route that the lad would hang out of his window to wave but he's dissapeared
There's a local guy to me who has a red 854 R and he used to acknowledge me when I had Gul, and a guy with a p2 V70 T5 who used to acknowledge me when I was in Laser. I don't think that most peeps even know what car my C70 is with being totally de-badged, and Nautic doesn't seem to get noticed either.

I saw a dark metallic grey 850/P1 V70 with prancing mooses scream across charlotte place roundabout here in Southampton once....i heard it before i saw it. Thats the closest in the wild sighting ive had bar the Vine meets.
I've been wondering about what traffic cops say to ex-police car drivers when caught speeding. Martin etc. what do they say?
They probably say something like..... I can remember when I drove one of these when I 1st started, when all the fleet was petrol cars- not 'dirty diesel's' like they are now!
Same here.. Once seen in Leeds red 854R very clean, and exhausts was spiting fire on downshifts.. :D
