Ok boys and girls. it's that time of year again so get yer thinking caps on.
Pretty much the same as last year, Nominate your faves via PM and the top 5 of each category will go to the public vote.
I've added the "oddball award" for a bit of fun too and I'm looking into better awards this year.
Categories...
Speedy Swede.
This doesn't mean the fastest member Volvo, just your favorite modified/performance one.
Shiny Swede.
Who's car gives you a bit of a twitch in the "gentleman's area" at meets? Blinds passing aircraft? or makes children cry?
Lucky Swede.
Scrapyard dodger, mobile skip, "how the hell did that pass an MOT?" call it what you like but give it a mention, nominate this year's luckiest forum car.
Non - Swede.
Many of us have other cars, some of them (like my starlet ;) ) are worthy of some praise... Nominate the best.
Oddball Award.
Crazy, mad, impossible... Any vehicle, owned by a forum member, for whatever reason.
Overall VPCUK car of the year.
Nominate your favorite forum car. Simple.
Nominations.
PM me with your nominations for each category, you don't need to come up with a nomination for each but it'll help. I won't reveal anybody's nominations but feel free to talk about your own if you wish. I'll give it a week and count everything up.
Forum management can access the list of nominations should they need to.
Voting.
When all the nominations are counted up, I'll start a thread and a public poll for each category and everybody can then vote for any of the top 5.
Votes (and who cast them) will be visible to all users.
Rules.
Not many rules really - Nominated cars must be road or track worthy - sorry to those of you with expensive garden ornaments. They must also belong to a forum member.
You may vote for your own car if you wish.
My cars cannot be nominated (obviously)
Bunfights, squabbling and general nobbishness won't be tolerated so play nicely. I'll have posts deleted if things get out of hand.[/CENTER]

and on the note of whoring your car....here's some shiney bits, 14.3 on a 15g does that count as speede swede ???

I seem to remember "there can only be one" a quote from a famous 1986 film, ok it's 10 years before our cars but it still boils down to one in each category, but I had it all sorted until now. I'm on the fence now, with all the other cars that are popping out of the woodwork at this late stage in the competition, things are really hotting up, it is a pity that some of these cars did't come forward earlier to jog my ageing memory, as my nominations could have been very different, but hey ho lets see where this all goes....bring on the final few MRP..:)

Yep - this year's budget is a bit bigger thanks to anonymous donations and there'll not only be cheap (but classy) trophies, but equally cheap (but still classy) trinkets too.
I still need more nominations tho guys because, at the moment, some categories may not even have a top 5!
I'm hoping that the newer members will get involved as well as the more stalwart members so, don't be shy, it's just a bit of fun ;)

dunno if its worth much to anyone but i class mine as a bit of a lucky one. 30 more miles would have seen it scrapped as the headgasket went pop on the way home. and now well its not a show car but its still on the road at least =)

I purchased the olive from the scrap yard, it should have been scrapped, has had everything mechanically done to it now and still needs the bodywork doing.
I doubt anyone would have taken it on, if myself and Oblark weren't reasonably good with spanners it would have been lost, but as there's only 17 odd 855r olive I couldn't see it crushed.
It had a blown auto box and 260k miles on it and every needed doing, fortunately it's in rude health mechanically, probably a better spec than a lot of 850sc 6sp works well as does the 4 pots front and rear.
Not many people are saving old Volvo's, it's good to see hemi's 740 my 850 and any old Volvo kept on the road.
