Now have problem with engine, head gasket gone, but so thiny leak that even cant notice, only on full boost Temp guage jumps up. Car is daily so cant live without her. Iwe got other engine, and today removed Valve cover, and oil sump, checked all liners looks very solid, engine turns very easy, but it got 200 000 or somthing near that, just woundering, should i change piston rings, and clean valve seats, or i can just swap engine? And how its easier remove engine from car with gearbox or without gearbox? Cheers. Here is some pics. Image Image Image Image And does somebody know why head and valve cover has different numbers? It should be like that? Cheers. Image Image

Is that not the original cross hatching finish from honing, measure the ring gap to check for wear.
Is that not the original cross hatching finish from honing, measure the ring gap to check for wear.
Then i should remove head. There is mno way to check that without removing head? Cheers, this engine is with good headgasket.

Put a ring down the cylinder, square it off with pushing a piston behind it, the take a feeler gauge to the ring gap and measure it.
Engine was just over 100k miles when Dan had it off me, so nowhere near 200k ;)
I bought spare engine, just chacked bearings they look like new. I will rebuild ''old'' one after when i finish this one. Colin, this wich is in my 850 has 100k spare one has 200k You can see engine which is 200k is with torque converter.
