As fun to drive as the MX5 was, it was just too small for me, and not really practical for a daily blast up and down the motorway to get to work, so, on Saturday I traded it in for this:
It's a 231ps (obviously lol) JDM spec car. Goes well, and loves to rev, and the handling and grip are amazing, just feels so balanced. There are a couple of JDM issues I want to sort, such as the speedo, and mileometer as they're in kilometres, and the stalks, as the indicator's on the right side, and I keep putting the wipers on :slap: , but I've got some British spec ones, so they'll be swapped soon.

Looks nice mate, I don't blame you for wanting to swap the stalks over though. I had a jdm Honda CR-V and those bloody wipers were always coming on

Nice choice & good time to buy one! I bottled selling my Mazda at the last minute...hadn't even made reserve anyway & everytime I fire it up all thoughts of selling go out the window
There seems to be a great second hand parts market for RX-8s (& RX-7s) no doubt you've had a look on ebay already - plenty of stuff to be had a decent prices.
Any history with it? Rebuild, compression test etc? Some people swear by pre-mixing oil with the petrol on rotarys, others don't bother. On the 7 I don't as it's supposed to have an oil metering pump to inject oil to burn.

The car came with a compression test, I bought it from a rotary specialist in Kent. I've read up about putting 2 stroke oil in with the petrol, basically it's a precautionary measyre in case a coil or plug packs up, it prevents bore wash. The RX8 has the OMP as well, but there is a mod that can be made called a Sohn adaptor, which uses a separate tank of oil for the OMP, then the sump oil just does the lubrication.
BTW, glad you kept the RX7, it's a beautiful car.

I am too new to rotarys to know who are the good specialists but have heard recommendations for WGT in Cheshire (also seen in the Wheel Dealers Rx7 episode :))
Compression test on mine was just a little bit low - average just below 7. Fine for now but long term will probably need a rebuild.

££££el's original engine design had the housing rotating. A guy called Paschke said: "Shtop! What are you doing? Why don't you leave the housing fixed & rotate the rotor..."

You mean you got the stalks the right way round. Used to prefer them on my Nissan that way then I could indicate and change gear at the same time. It is better if you ask me
