any one any thoughts on this looking forward to it myself http://reallymeansounds.com/news/chris-harris-set-to-join-new-new-top-gear/

Have a feeling it's litteraly going to be car crash television, there's been too much hype and I dont think it'll be a patch on the old one. I wait to be proved wrong though.

Sabine Schmitz is also joining David Coulthard & Chris Harris

Chris Harris is the dude who 're-tweeted' news of my 5 being stolen, so I think the show will be fantastic

I heard Coulthard wasn't doing top gear as he will be doing the channel 4 F1 coverage

Itv have commissioned a car show called Drive too, Jason Plato and Vernon Kay host. I hope VK shows his 900bhp GTR

The program Drive is going to be a celebrity competition show? I think the new top gear format might go back to more of the serious review format.

Just about to start chap's. ..

Well, it's a car show, so I'll watch it, and if you don't compare it with classic TG, then I suppose it was ok, I do like the rally cross idea.

Not good, didn't like Chris Evans, Matt Leblanc was better and then Chris Harris is on some extra show? Only really turned on to watch him

Post 801592 by Wobbly Dave on 2016-05-30 14:30:37

I thought it had some good ideas and LeBlanc was much more entertaining. Not sure about Mr. Evans but prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt. Chris Harris's efforts on the extra gear show seemed a bit stifled in comparison to his usual top quality content on YT, but at least he's getting a decent amount of support to make it (wonder what happened to Neil?). I embrace the new TG with hope that it will improve as the old one was getting tired.

It was everything feared it would be... a very bad rip off of the old Top Gear. One of the things that went down hill on the old TG was how scripted it became. But this first effort of the new TG took it to a whole new level. Not one piece of dialogue or narration seemed natural in the slightest. At least the old Top Gear would have you in stitches from start to finish, I don't think I even cracked a smile during that utter garage! Unfortunately it is a car show, and it is Top Gear, so I will carry on watching it. But now I have become one of those w@nkers that I hated before that watched Top Gear and did nothing but moan about how sh!!t it is. Now this is me. Thanks BBC.

Annoyed to find Chris Harris wasn't even featured and Chris Evans was like a kid with ADHD, but always Car SOS, and Wheeler Dealers (which itself has gone for a horrid American format where they show you what's coming up at every advert and then what's happened when back from adverts) Fifth gear is no more according to tiff, so slim pickings

Extra gear wasnt great either....better than the main show but not great.

Anybody remember the pre-clarkson top gear? The new one isn't Clarkson, may and hammond but I thought it was a good stab for a first episode. Give it time and I'm confident it'll work out OK.

Post 801613 by martybelfastt5 on 2016-05-30 21:32:18

the jury is out for me was nothing great and dissapointed about chris harris being on the extra show not even sure who the other fella was

I didn't make it past the top gun sketch. Utter pants. To be fair.....I couldn't stand the 3 previous incumbents so there was little hope of me liking the ginger twot & the dumb one from Friends. As a lover of most things automotive I am regularly disappointed by the slim pickings on the telly......oh well , hope springs eternal....

I can sum it up thusly - utter w@nk

I can utter the comments of the last 3 ^^. Total shame. I knew it was going to be crap right from the beginning, as soon as Chris Evans opened his weasel irritating mouth and said..."Matt Lablanc gets chased..., I get chased...etc, etc". It was just copying what Clarkson used to say. To be honest, Clarkson was funny, but Chris Evans is just plain annoying. I will continue to watch the second show to see if the producers even bother to watch social media and listen to what the country all appear to be saying, but I fear that nothing will change and if it doesn't improve by show 2, then I'm out and won't be watching anymore. The only one who is slightly amusing is Lablanc, but Americans don't get sarcasm, so I fear it will be really hard and painful to watch going forwards. Fingers crossed it improves from the first shows shambolic episode. Just so ppl understand that the shows are only recorded about 11 days in advance of the show being aired. I know this because my mate is in the audience on episode 2 and he went to TG last Thursday for filming. If producers pay attention to social media, then hopefully things will improve! ...and I'm not talking about his biased followers from Radio 2 twitter feed either!

i thought i'd got a naff memory, but all the comments on how good the original series was are making me laugh more than the actual show. The last 2 series were just repeats, different cars & locations but the same script, the same gags. I still say it was a way for Clarkson to desert a sinking ship i'd be interested to see the actual viewing figures for the new show, especially following all the comments "i won't watch it without Clarkson", "i don't like Chris Evans". People had make up their minds 6 months ago it was going to be crap. I didn't think it was bad, certainly better than any of the other current car programs (although i have found out car SOS is still on lol) you've lost 15minutes of your life, just go back to watching time team or whatever this Sunday & be happy

Post 801668 by M-R-P on 2016-06-01 14:52:18

4.1 million BBC viewers, plus another 1.2 million on i-player iirc.

I thought sections of the show were good the 3 wheelers was, I haven't seen topgear plus (or whatever it's called) so I'll do that next, annoyed no Chris Harris on the show.
