can it be removed at all and what does it do????

The carbon canister traps vapours from the fuel tank and feeds the into the engine to be burnt off. The ecu controls when the vapours are fed into the engine. As for removing it, I'm not sure, sorry.
i've binned mine
Mine went on the T-5r ages ago, kept the one way valve plugged to the wiring (thought this would keep the ecu happy) and blanked the pipe to the inlet manifold. Alls good and no side effects as far as I can see and has left a neat spot for my external oil cooler to mount soon....:)
I don't have any on the T-10, and binned it about 6 years ago off the front engine.
