Lets start off at the beginning when the car was bought...... Came from a garage in Cheshire with 154k on clock but was in excellent condition: Image Image When the car got home it went into Volmech and had a full major service for my piece of mind - new timing belt, filters, oil and also had a slight whine on alternator so this was done as well. It was never going to stay standard as I don't keep cars standard haha First up was chassis mods - Sachs dampers, eibach springs, XC90 top mounts, Ultra racing strut brace Image This dropped the car and made it handle a hell of a lot better. I also had a full new set of Bridgestone RE002 tyres which were sitting about off my Impreza so these were fitted to the original Orestes rims. Combined with a good geo setup the car handles amazingly. Next up was a V70r rear lower valance and custom exhaust: Image Image Image Whilst exhaust was being done I had the second cat gutted to boost the noise: Got a private plate sorted and gave the car a good scrub also before this had the rear windows tinted, genuine Volvo mudflaps and Heko deflectors installed: Image Image Only other performance mod was a panel filter from BMC: Image EGR mixer pipe all cleaned out yuck! Painted the grill insert black then headed off on a 3000 mile road trip around Scotland: Image Image Image Image Image Whilst in Scotland took out a BMW 5 series which has gone down as my fault as only witness drove off, still not happy about it but nothing I can do! Image Luckily only scratches to front bumper and numberplate pulled off. £5k damage to BMW! Got back from Scotland then straight back out into a roadtrip for my Dads 60th Birthday around the Lake District then into Yorkshire, My parents have the Impreza and my brother has the Clio Sport: Image Winter was approaching so got a bargain set of alloy wheels with winter tyres already on, don't really like them so plasticoated them black to make them easier on the eye: Image Image Image Image Then as per normal D5's the intercooler popped! Good excuse for a do88 item: Image Image

With the weather improving it was time to get sorted again, another brand new set of RE002 tyres through my sponsor. Got car up in the air and fully cleaned including underneath. Brakes have been cleaned, calipers repainted silver and brake disc centres repainted. Also cleaned and sealed all 4 arches and as much of the suspension I could reach: Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image

And after all that it was looking sparkly again! Image Image Image Image Image Image Then over the last couple of days my Powerflex bushes: Image Image Image Image Image Image Got a genuine rear spoiler ready for paint with a different brakelight setup and brand new fitting kit. Also keeping my eye out for a new front bumper V70/S60R or a standard V70 item.

Also built up my own induction system using a BSR T5 kit as a starting point and modifying the cold air feed to suit as well as custom silicon pipework: Image Image Image Sounds weird but I like it!

Just had another mini break in Scotland which turned into a 1000 mile 3 day blast haha. Cooked the brakes up on the Forest roads as well, oops! Image Image Image Image Now back to the cooked brakes - I managed to turn the front discs blue haha The pathetic 286mm disc setup on mine isn't cutting the mustard and I wasn't happy buying discs, pads and carriers to go up to 305mm so started on another route I had seen..... XC90 336mm calipers, discs and pads: Image Image Has worked out extremely cheap as a supplier I use was selling off some stock cheap and got a pair of brand new front Pagid 336mm discs delivered for £59.99. Bargain! Calipers were only £40 each and pads are around £30-40 so all in works out extremely cheap. Only issue..... My winter wheels are only 16" so will need to sell these on as barely fit behind let alone centre on the hub haha Image

Have you mapped it yet, I didn't see mention of it? (But on phone so could have missed it)

Ok, mines a 185, mapped to 220 and dpf and cat removed. Intercooler next I think and some silicon hoses.

I hope you don't put copperslip all over the mating surface of your new disks :)
I hope you don't put copperslip all over the mating surface of your new disks :)
I was also wondering about this...

Nice project! :) Where did you get the V70R rear lower valance?
I hope you don't put copperslip all over the mating surface of your new disks :)
It didn't stay like this haha, got carried away when putting it on and forgot to retake the pic
Nice project! :) Where did you get the V70R rear lower valance?
It came from a crash damaged V70R in a breakers yard. Don't come up often and was the right colour so snapped it straight up.

Well that's the brake calipers all stripped, cleaned and painted Image Image Image Wired brushed down: Image Image All painted up silver with the retainer painted black: Image Image Image Image Image All assembled with new TRW pads.... Image Image Image Hopefully can fit them this week!

Well yesterday saw me finish the last paint on the brakes and fit them! Loving the extra braking capacity now.... Image Image Image Image Image I also replaced the fluid with Motul RBF600 which I had spare off the Impreza track car I have. Obviously this meant I needed to explore the braking capacity so a road trip today! So I drove to Hawes then onto Thwaite taking in the amazing Buttertubs Pass. Then continued onto Kirkby Stephen before heading back home up the A66/A1. Brakes really shine on these roads allowing later braking and with a lot more bite. No fade even after a lot of extremely hard miles.
