...a brake fluid change every two years sir." At a 2 year service under a service plan. I accept that I was sucked in to this at a cost of £88. However, I find it a little sneaky for a manufacturer to advise a customer to perform a service on the brakes - on the family car in which I transport the kids around - in order to ensure that they continue to function properly, but not cover it in the service schedule. I have given Volvo the chance to respond to this query... Dear Mr Davison Thank you for your email. I am sorry to read that your are disappointed that the brake fluid change is not covered as part of the service plan. This is because this is purely a recommendation and not a requirement as this is considered to be an extra to the routine service, it is not therefore covered by the plan and this is confirmed in the service plan literature. I’m sorry that I cannot respond more favourably. Kind regards I knew I was paying for this when I said yes. I'm just miffed that they can on one hand recommend that it is needed, and on the other, not cover it.

Not the first time I've heard this to be honest, Same with a plan from a Ford dealer we had.

Take a Vauxhall in for a service and they charge 22 quid to fill the washer bottle. Yeah, fill the washer bottle. Oh, and if it's full, they empty it and refill it.
