hello all
I've just bought myself a nice v70 24t awd 1998. its in lovely condition . can anybody tell me what power they are supposed to have ? the chap I bought it off told me he thought it was 140bhp but it feels like its got a lot more power than that.

The turbo on the 2.4T AWD engine is the light pressure turbo (one of the smallest in the td04hl family) and runs out of puff at about 12psi. In standard form the 2.4 LPT engine has a maximum boost of approx 6 psi and that is at 4800rpm, after that the boost is reduced by the ecu, so it is quite sedate.
A simple remap (or manual boost controller) is a quick way to make more power. Though the injectors are a limiting factor.
For a bit more power you can fit a 16T turbo (pick one up cheap on ebay, there is usually a few about) and white injectors (or bigger) from the x70 T5 engine and get it remapped.
Also worth mentioning is routine maintenance. Check the AWD system is in good condition (oil levels, propshaft joints and centre bearing) and make sure the tyres wear evenly by swapping the fronts to the back periodically (different tread depths can put extra stress on the AWD components and possibly break something).
A stage 0/check of the engine bay (oil, filters, plugs, intake piping, vacuum/turbo piping) is probably a good idea too.
Other than that just enjoy the grip :)

Being a 98 model, it's possible ME7 and won't like a boost controller being fitted.
Can you see a throttle cable in the engine bay?

Post some pics up, we like pics :D

Don't think they did a 2.5t on M4.4, did they??

Yeah, the LPT 2.4T engine was used in the standard x70 AWDs (and even the 850 AWD) with the M4.4 ecu until some point.
And I think there were also some LPT x70 (FWD) models too including the C70.

well ive had the bus for a week and a half and its great. it feels very heavy . the suspension feels very soft specially the front. but I love it.
its on a throttle cable. does that make a lot of difference to tuning it ? the exhaust sounds great. reminds me of the 5 pot audi .

Basic tuning will be easier and cheaper
As for the suspension - I'd change the shocks and bushes, then fit a strut brace to tighten it all up.

Injectors aren't a limiting factor they provide more flow than a set of oranges and a better spray pattern to boot as me7 design injectors.
15g / 16t and map, but they're slightly higher comp, so vpower and maybe the boost needs to come in a little later?
Rica 304 map would suit, infact thinking about it Oblark helped tune one Iirc

thank you all for your advice. work will start soon. suspension first I think

Always the wise choice. Sort the suspension and brakes before adding more power.

AFAIK the B5254T engine comes with the red 315cc injectors which like you say are the better spray pattern but are the lower flow rate than the T5 with the white 350cc injectors

5cc more than the 15g t5r, so more than able to cope with a Rica 304 map, just need to pop on a 15g for cheap upgrade
