Hi all,
I've just got my Volvo back from the garage with a possible split cam shaft.
Would I be better off stripping the engine to get to the camshaft, or just getting a new engine and dropping it in??
If I was going to go down the option of having A new engine, does anyone know of any reconditioned engines available??
Thanks in advance
😩

Anymore detail on the original problem? Symptoms. Noise ect...
And I guess you are actually meaning crank shaft not cam shaft?

Welcome to the forum!
Getting to the camshaft is quite easy as long as you can source a replacement, but if anything else has been damaged as a side effect of the broken cam then you'd need to find that out too.
A new engine would save any fault finding but then you have to fit it which isn't hard as long as you have the right equipment.
What year is it? any pics?

Welcome - what year is your V70? I have a spare head including cams from an S60 (early noughties).
The problem is a lot of white smoke out the exhaust, and a lot of oil on the driveway.
I have her off road at the minute!!
Sorry for the latereply

Sounds more like a knackered turbo.
What year/engine V70 are we talking about here?
