Hi all, This is my first post in many years and as such somewhat of an introduction though a genuine desire to hear your advice at the end. I was brought up on the 90's BTCC and my Dad owned a White 850 estate at the time inspiring my brother and I's imagination and cementing Volvo as my favorite car brand. After misadventures in 'hot' hatches I found myself in a 1991 940 Estate from which I derived my respect for the freedom cars permitted and understanding and caring for them/ abiding the laws made ownership fruitful. I was involved in a number of Volvo forums and enjoyed meet-ups particularly through this forum meeting some great people in Scotland. Image After 8 years working in London and NYC where car ownership was unnecessary I'm now returning to Scotland and looking to once again purchase a Volvo. It has to be an estate and lifestyle (avid bicycle racer) would suggest an XC70 would be best. My budget of 5-6k and desire for an auto places me around 2004 model year. I'd love some help with a 'buying guide' to aid my search or at least some pointers as to what this particular model suffered from or conversely what desirable features were (ie I always loved the Ocean Race model) Secondly, how much perceivable benefit do you think there is for an XC70 over an AWD V70. Looking forward to being back involved/ the search. David

:welcome: When in doubt I usually start my research with Honest John http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/volvo/volvo-s60-v70-and-xc70-2004-brief-test//? http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/volvo/v70xc70-2000/?section=good Seems to me not that much between them, other than looks & ride height?
