been playing with, tuning and building stuff for decades-looks like a lively and knowledgeable forum,i hope to add and to learn. the D24T is a new platform to me ,but seems to be a well liked and used one. the basis for power and torque has always been strength. my workshops contain cummins ,MAN ,DETROIT,and two wheels powered by SUZUKI,KAWASAKI,TRIUMPH meriden,INDIAN,HARLEY DAVIDSON,VELOCETTE,BSA,MOTOBECANE,BMW,COSSACK,and some no 1 wheelers by STIHL. I hope you can bear with me as i dont own a volvo, so will mainly be in the engine tech area. look forward to starting my build early next year. i freely admit to being an internet Neanderthal, but i can post pictures !

Welcome along. My uncle restores old bikes, I've helped out with some tear-downs and blasting jobs in the past but 2 wheels aren't really my thing. The old man had a cossack years ago, thumping thing with a horrible sidecar. What's the plan for the D24 then? Derv drag car?

Thank you all. I have a vw LT luton van , it is currently naturally asthmatic ( no turbo ) i have been a fan of turbocharging since the late 80,s - as i finnish more and more jobs on the LT the more i luke it - , i have it running well now and most if the electrical is done. The welding is 70% and it just passed its first MOT in 8 years . Research has shown the intercooled TDI,s used in the bigger volvos are great high mileage engines . This fact alone was enough to justify resurrecting this old brick !

Cool, which shape LT? If it's the flat front, I had a D24TIC that I dropped into my 960. Lovely, characterful engine. Wound the fuel and boost up and it went fairly well. Ran quite happily on veg oil, excellent Bosch VE pump. Sounded awesome too with a shed load of boost when opened up :) The later ones used the 5cyl AEL engines. Absolutely bulletproof and respond very well to a bit of tuning. Martin_r_smith on here has one knocking out some good power. Mine in the 850 is currently on 308k, still runs like new and pulls well.
