Hi. The D5 has developed a sort of turbine noise when accelerating. Not gear or speed related but rpm. Vague I know but any ideas? Regards

There's a split/hole somewhere between the airbox and turbo somewhere. Probably the elbow on the rubber pipe on the turbo inlet.

Do you have excess black smoke or notice a loss in power? I think Martin may be right.

Did you find the fault? Small split in turbo hose??

Not looked yet, still making the same noise. Need to have a root around when I am not trying to fill the piggy bank!

Hi Pauld, I would say it is the cold air pipe that fits to the turbo air inlet, I have found that the turbo can over boost if this pipe is split, Dave

Had a good dig around yesterday and I think it may be the turbo air inlet pipe. The intercooler pipes are very soft too, and expand significantly when the car is reved. Any ideas where to get replacements and the part numbers. it is a 163bhp E3 regards

What makes you think it's the MAF to Turbo pipe? Have you done a smoke leak test? The Plastic MAF to Turbo pipe is prone to cracking and splitting at the neck part which goes around the Turbo flange under the jubilee. They also leak at the PCT nipple (if fitted).

So this has finally been diagnosed as a blown intercooler.
