:welcome: *cough* http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?63159-Yet-another-whats-it-worth-request //edit if that is the same one, it's only done 5k in the past 10 years. Needs a damn good checking over IMHO https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

No it's a turquoise V70, trying to post a pic but says invalid URL even though it's the same one I used on another forum

The one Jamesy reffered to is/was turquoise, Fella. Best bet with pics is to host them somewhere like photobucket and copy the IMG code over. Welcome aboard btw :)

My bad yes it is that one, it's actually his fathers car and he's owned it from new

Have tried copying img from Photobucket but keeps saying error, giving up before I throw iPad against wall

Ah, ipads/tablets and copying stuff... Takes some getting used to. You're trying to paste the img code straight into the text window where the rest of us (well, me and Jamesy anyway) just type random nonsense, right?
My bad yes it is that one, it's actually his fathers car and he's owned it from new
I had a sneaking feeling this car would appear on here at some point and if it's P626 ND#, we are talking about the same car. For what it's worth it wasn't " his father's car from new". His father is a well established local motor trader who lives near me in Poynton, who now trades from home and that is where I saw it.. It was then handed over to his son who has a pitch in Sale who has been marketing it for his dad, who owns the car. It had been up had it up at £2900 but I believe he has accepted £2700. The car did, if motor trader number one can be believed, come from family known to him and looking at the condition of the car and it's MOT history it has been well looked after. I echo what Jamesy1234 has said about getting it looked at because if memory serves me right when I had a quick shufty under the car I thought I could see oil around the rear cross member. I hope you are happy with the car.

Having re-read the above, I don't mean to put you off the car, because it is mint inside and out and I can believe it is a one family car, although from what he told me, not his family car. In respect of oil leak I am not absolutely certain so it may well be worth a phone call plus email for them to confirm there aren't any before you part with your cash. If you do decide to go ahead with it and the car has been moved back to his dad's place on South Park Drive, there is a local Volvo specialists called Cheshire Vehicle Services about three miles from there who certainly know their stuff.

I don't know if you are getting an inspection done before you fly but it might be worth asking someone on here that is local to have a quick look. I have in the last few hours walked past the house where I saw it and it isn't there so I assume it is still on the pitch.

That's why he lives in a huge house overlooking a lake in one of if not the most desirable locations around our area.

Thanks guys, I have agreed £2700 and I know it's probably a bit too much money but I plan too keep this car a long time and have been looking a while, I am taking a bit of a risk as it's 500 miles from me so I'm flying down on Monday to Manchester to pick it up. I have spoken to the owner at length he did say it has been moved back to his sons garage. I kinda like the originality and the colour and am buying it as a bit of a project for my retirement, hope I've not made a mistake but it's one I can afford. Will reply to this when I get it home. Rob

Paying a bit over the odds for a sorted car is not always a bad thing. If it's a keeper then you'll have a much better base to start off from - especially if you don't have a plethora of cosmetic issues to fix. You'll still have the normal mechanical issues to keep on top of - but hopefully if it's been well described by the seller them your risk of anything major should be minimal. Good luck with it & look forward to some updates. All the best, Morgan

This car is absolutely mint inside and out and if it wasn't for the taxman wanting a payday next month it would have been on my drive already.

Well picked it up yesterday, turned out to be a bit of a mare, flight from Inverness delayed over 2 hours so never got to Manchester till after 6pm. Brian picked me up from airport in the car which gave me good chance to listen to it on way back to his, got back and gave it look over before it got dark. Left Manchester around 730pm dark and raining in an unfamiliar car but once I got on the motorway all was good. Wasn't till I got on unlit roads I noticed how poor the headlights were and it snowed between Perth and Inverness which didn't help, never mind 4 coffees and 2 cans of red bull later I arrived home at 0430. Car is totally as described and has all of receipts for services and work carried out including recent cambelt, brake fluid change and new cat, seems like it has been maintained regardless of cost. Drives really nice delighted with it, headlight problem is reflectrors or lack of virtually no mirror left on them, is it a common problem? and is there a good upgrade ? Rob

Rob
If they're anything like P1 headlights they're just poor as standard, options are either LED headlight bulbs, or HIDs.

I'd second that, my 850 headlights were nothing short of terrible on standard bulbs and dipped beam... I suspect the P1 is equally bad. Good luck with the new purchase Bob!

Epic drive home...:B_thumb: Regards the headlights. If the reflector part of the lens is failing, pealed away, dull etc, then fitting HID's will make no difference. In fact, it will make light output worse, scattered, unusable and probably a danger to other road users. If this is what you say it is...'a Project car for your retirement' then I'd either... 1/ Buy brand new OE headlights and fit HID's 2/ Buy projector lamps (aftermarket) and fits HID's. I did No2 to my P1 I owned years ago and the light beam was razor sharp and crystal clear.

Have hid's in the olive 850 on her original lights and they are excellent
