Hi all. Having changed the aux belt tensioner due to some rather horrible noises, it looks like the actual problem is the crankshaft damper wheel. Where can I find a procedure for this as I assume it means the timing could change when the bolt is out. Is pfv the best place to purchase one of these units? Many thanks.

Try and get the part number off it and look to VW for a replacement it'll be a lot cheaper than volvo!

Here's a link to the time I did it. http://www.vpcuk.org/forums/showthread.php?61580-2-5-TDi-(AEL)-Crank-TDC&highlight= Made my own crank lock tool, but as you'll find from reading the thread, there's other ways around this. Taking off the damper wheel won't affect your timing. Lock the crank. Then remove the main centre bolt and then the other 4 smaller bolts. Pull the off and replace. I got the number of the part, and did some extensive searching to get it cheap. Best one I turned up was on amazon for less than £60 new (Gates: TVD1033), but I can't seem to find one for less than £100 now.
